You're in luck. The game is in relatively early beta still, so there are no pros. Yesterday dropships were the thing, today tanks are the thing, and tomorrow SMGs may be the big deal.
Corps don't guarantee anything but playing with the same handful of people more often. Take your time and read through the thread to get a feel for who you're giving respect to and asking to be around. Maturity and reliability are more important than claimed skill or population since the game can change anyday, and population just means body collector (stagnation is pretty much assured).
If you want to learn, pop around the forums, there are great info threads on everything from piloting ships (which is a cool deep role), to anti tank strategies, to skill allottment, newbie guides, etc. |

What's even worse is I haven't seen an STB yet ingame who isn't driving a tank all round.
I killed one tank (with help) with my default Heavy - Shock loadout + damage booster from a sniping perch. Lo and behold in some kind of crazy revenge need he tries to rush the area I'm sniping from and gives me free kills on his approach. |

Played with you and one of your buddies today. You just drove around in your jeep and stopped to take pot shots at people, fairly legit tactic until someone blew your vehicle up and you floundered for the rest of the match.
Forkyou was in a later match, and his strategy was fairly simple as well. Rush group of people, spam thukker nades, move in with assault rifle and spray-pray (I mean it, I give credit for marksmanship but you can tell this dude was just careless), try to cap objective, and since he was a lone wolf he'd get murdered by people spawning on him since he was low on thukker crutches.
Nice to see that you guys weren't in tanks, but I am disappointed to see that there was no attempt at teamwork at all. Just doing your thing using gimmick strategies. |

You didn't carry your team to victory, my team was busy farting around in vehicles and too stupid to stop and try to (as a team or even group of 4) to cap any objectives.
Your solo behavior was identical to that which my team was using, only you had a mildly better strategy (breach/clear with thukker, mop up with AR spray), and you were of a questionable amount skill more than they had.
Literally I watched you cap that crater cannon (C) and you tossed a thukker in, those that weren't killed were running around like idiots until you came in and cleaned up 2 of the survivors, then a few more spawned. Rinse-repeat-cap.
I'm not saying you're bad, but you didn't try for teamwork, and you won solely because your tactic was superior to their LACK of tactic. That sucks because I think even you'd have the sense to admit that if you had anything else going it'd be better. Literally any other team-based tactic would have less risk, and more payoff.
The match was lost (we couldn't keep objectives) LONG before you were making your jeep rounds, most of your rounds were actually just around the fringes of the map at first killing off stragglers and scrub snipers. So saying you carried them is just outright dumb since there were many on the team, and you were spending your entire rounds travelling and murdering (with emphasis on travelling to make sure your shields were charged and no one could have an extended shot at you, another reasonable tactic although completely incompatible with teamwork or objectives). |
