Not only are they special, but they're a sidearm, benefit from the sidearm damage mod, and therefore of you got it with a light weapon and use light damage mods, the rifle will not benefit.

the only secret you should pay for is the flux doing armor damage secret and having infinite fluxes (very fun against tanks) as well as the lav launch RE. can kill someone across the map if you can aim it right (i dont do it, not enough skill)

Tbh, officer gear isn't really rare anymore. I have like 8 frames, 12 rattaties, like 6 archdukes. Get them kinda often through the experimental lab. It's at lvl 3. Sadly I don't have enough sp to use. But they are NOT FOR SALE.

AR has lower range than Bolt Pistol.
BP also has more DPS. No reason to use it really, especially on a scout.
Ps. Yes officer suits are rare. Even if you'll have 150 suits, they'll still be rare cuz only you would have them.

Commandos are still THE combat suit. Good tank, mobility isn't bad, build in damage mods, and falcon-punch without needing myofibs.

edit: the commando was already obsolete as a few others have said. been able to kill a commando 1 on 1 in a militia recruit frame suit. get slaughtered by heavys in no time though.
