The current bug count is massive and a few months would scarcely scratch the surface. There are bugs that I have documented, analyzed and suggested possible methods to solve that are beyond any programmer working at CCP. The skill level is simply not there. Indeed, one suspects the level of skill has never been in attendance.
Additionally there are a list of problems that are commonly called bugs but are in truth the reality of the network/server/client architecture that CCP/Iceland has foisted upon CCP/Shanghai. That is not to mention the limitations of the PS3 itself, or upper management's decision to save money by not upgrading past Unreal Engine 3+. They have modified an underperforming game engine that the industry has gladly left behind and are loathe to spend real world cash on a fix. Indeed, as UE4 has yet to be released to PS3 the simplest path isn't even possible and truth be told wasn't all that simple a change as UE4 is a dramatic change.
Solving the hit box issues, burdensome graphic detail that is useless in game, educating the players such that they realize the server resolved them getting killed before they got around the corner and the bullet did not actually go through the corner. It was merely displayed as such by their client software.
The UI is not acceptable. But this is what we have, should they spend more hours on it or leave it alone? Whether you ask that question to a thousand different subjects the truth is CCP Rattati has the actual responsibility and, for the most part, has served Dust514 players better than they were served previously. I do have significant disagreement with some of his decisions, but I am not his manager nor does he gives a rat's behind about my preferences.
If we had a dozen bugs that were well known, prioritized correctly (as in agreement which is impossible by the very nature of these forums) then I would say go for it. However, the bugs are in the hundreds. Two additional programmers, of exceptional quality, would be necessary to add to the staff full time and I don't see that happening.
The best course would require addressing the mediocre and unbalanced input device handlers, clarifying the network/server/client relationship so the gamers can get realistic about what is actually happening in game, improving the network communications and a persistent dialing back of the graphic load (getting rid of the stupid moods would be great). Of course, as a player that tanks more than anything else fixing the horrendous problems with the turrets would be high on my list.
Please post again when you have a bug list that you propose they focus on.
My favorite tank is a Lightning. Just sayin.
