I got it! All our militia gear gets a fancy name and model. It would still be militia in stats and all functions, theyd just look cool!
example:
"Goon" swarm launcher : yellow-jacket color scheme.
"Veteran" Assualt Rifle : very tattered, older-model design (as if from the Gallente-Caldari War)
"Komrade" Heavy Machine Gun : get Valve's permission first! 
"Wise" SMG : drum-mag, stock instead of strap. Capiche?
"Anvil" Forge Gun : make it a lefty, just for the hell of it!
"Pop" Sniper Rifle : scope has a pod-shaped lenscap, akin to COD smiley |

This is the first time I've ever been required to pay for the ingame "gold" equivalent douring a beta test. For that reason more than any other, I think it's very fair to ask for something to say we were here. We want a patch/gun/monkey, we paid to take this baby for it's test ride! |

Starhawk beta tester received a DLC token, purely cosmetic, for participating to the beta so it's feasible to have something similar in Dust 514 as well.
It coudl be a special paint for every weapon & vehicles for instance. |

I like that idea you have there but mostly the idea of the "Veteran" assult rifle got me thinging,
What if we had a choice to make our armor any type of armor that aint already a themed one a veteran verion of the armor which looks like its being through the wars and in general seen alot of strange tactics such as the swarmers, the strafers, the heavy camping, ect it would actualy reposent weve done and have had it done to us so ye dont have to
Mabye if it that a slight reduction to armor to reposent how battered it looks as a trade off for mabye weapon damage bonus or such but it should be balenced not making it more powerful simply making it have a different feel or am i over thinking it
mabye to have it fit to tie in more with the actual back story of the Dust mercs have a variation of a mordu legion emblem on the shoulder |

I'm going to re-iterate, all my ideas here are nothing more, nothing less than reskins for militia gear. This means they've got militia stats, slow reloads, and most importantly can never get destroyed like the Gold Magnate was.

Ze swarm launcher idea represents that, like its namesake, we had a significant impact on the EVE universe by not only ensuring DUST runs well on release, but also how much we affect the game's development by giving our ideas, no matter how silly.

I'm all for some useless cosmetic thing as a tiny reward for the hours we're putting in dealing with crashes and disconnects. I dunno if I'd want it on a weapon though. Honestly I'd prefer something more like a custom color scheme for our suits/vehicles. Nothing that hard to pull off, something someone in the art department could do without much trouble if they just want to keep it simple. Have it linked to an item that maybe takes the same slot as the stat boosters so you can turn it on or off by equipping it or taking it off. Non-tradable of course. |

I'd just like to reiterate that I'm NOT asking for ANY item equipable to a dropsuit or vehicle. I don't want an assault rifle, I don't want a special suit, I don't want a fancy jeep.
I want something to distinguish me as a beta tester from the regular players. Something to say that I've helped make this game as great as it is. A decoration would be awesome. An option to toggle an insignia on my shoulder or face would be epic.
Again, not an item. Not a weapon, dropsuit, equipment item, low-slot / mid-slot module, or anything that would effect gameplay in any way, shape, or form. Just something to let us stand out a bit. |

i'd like to have my weapon covered in scratches and some dirt. Or maybe my dropsuit.
OR another idea could be for the social area's so when your in the planning room, or in the merc quarters you could be scratched and covered in dirt.
I dunno if i'd want it to be just miltia tho, coz i'd wanna be using this gun ALOT maybe an optional reskin on all guns |

I think a more suitable idea would be a DUST 514 mark next to your name it would be assigned to your PSN therefore on any character you make you will have this next to your name. They would be able to track and record everyone who participated in the closed beta much easier and it would be a nice cosmetic :-)
For a visual reference it's akin to the system implemented in Battlefield: Bad Company 2, where there was a nifty image, with an associated number(the amount of Battlefield games you've owned that are assigned to your account). Just my thoughts! |

In EVE, ISK might be #1, but reputation is #2. If our beta status isn't somehow visible to EVE purists, this thread is moot.
Your icon could be attached to the DUST toon just as easily, so it can still work, just don't leave out the group the vanity is REALLY aimed at!
An avatar-only item is a swell idea, but runs the risk of evoking not-so-fond memories of the $70 monocle (still availible in EVE btw), so CCP would have to tread lightly here.
Reskinned militia gear was something suggested a couple times, the "scarred" look seems to be most popular among posters.
I am AGAINST any item that gives a gameplay advantage, not to be confused with the political advantage beta status is bound to give us anyway. That is partly why i'd rather prefer reskins of militia only, but every militia purchaseable. |

I keep thinking about how time-consuming it would be to add optional reskins to our own equipment, so I can understand if that idea gets shot down. Decorations and unique portraits should be much easier to do |
