I've been around for all of them. If Rattati gets the payouts buffed, it will help, but if things stay the same you are going to start seeing people leave.
I never thought I'd leave, but I have actual good battles maybe 10% of the time. I'm not the only one, almost to a man every veteran player I talk to is this way.

exactly this.. unfortunate thing is I am guessing, MM can't work properly and re-fill those spots and can only get the team sorted at the start.. then it's up to the players to not be such bitches 5 seconds in |

I actually feel there's some truth to this. I don't care about why players leave but they must be replaced. Fighting 15-9 with balance is ok I guess because they don't redline you necessarily, but good luck taking and holding objectives. It does get old, however it's still not every game for me but it has had me playing less recently.

I'm not knocking the system. It might be the greatest MM system ever created for FPS, but this playerbase just flat out refuses to fight.

Why would payouts get buffed when a majority of players run BPO's , which produce all profit and zero risk .?. that's just counterproductive and is the REAL elephant in the room that EVERYONE is staying away from . It's a p!$$ poor mentality of either , " get in or get out " because it's a mechanic that a huge portion of the player base takes advantage of and it's like frack those who either can't afford one ( yeah because everyone has money to burn and no RW issues or problems if their playing a free game on a dam near 20 year old platform ) or seeing the flaw in this , just doesn't care to involve themselves because they simply don't agree with it .
Your going to pay players more for putting up zero ISK for the whole match .?. much less that whole day or the rest of their playing experience .?. and now they will play a huge part in PC as well .... this just seems to me like a cash grab if there ever was one and while yes , you pay RW money ... that's only one time for unlimited fits for the rest of your Dust playing experience and while you can obtain one playing FW , most use boosters to accomplish this feat because lets be real , your not getting a reasonable LP payout without running a couple of boosters . Even during the FW event , to me the LP payouts were just not enough unless you ran 2 or 3 boosters , again ... another mechanic that boost the potential of those who spend RW money .
Now I'm not against CCP making money , that's just dumb ... but to have that RW money to give such a distinctive advantage over those who don't have or can't afford to spend that money is just alienating a huge portion of your player base and that's balancing a fine line , somewhat sudo-tipping towards PTW because this game is being tailored to these same that do so but NO ONE says anything about it because their all indulging , not thinking about both sides of the scales .
Knock me if you will but I know that I just don't play as hard as I use to when I play game after game and see team after team fielding mostly BPO fits , it's watering this game down and the competitive aspect of it as well .
It's now encouraged to run cheep fits , how could anyone complain about payouts when this is going on ?

A lot of people were complaining about farming PC being a game breaking mechanic , isn't farming BPO's along the same lines ? Your stacking a $h!t ton of ISK , draining the pockets of the have not's and creating an unlimited supply for yourself while bankrupting the rest .
Edit : None of you would ever speak up because most of you indulge in this but at the same time a broken mechanic is the same so your silence doesn't mean or make you right .

You know you can be condescending all you like but it shows the people who really care about the actual health of this game and it's potential to reach across all aspects of potential participants so that numbers can rise and the overall ability of this game can shine , not just to and for those who are willing or can spend the money .
This is the reason why so many bugs linger ( not too many press the issues , they would rather have new and shiny instead ) , numbers have been stagnant on a console that number in the tens of millions but not even a forth of that play this game , not even a 16th of a forth of that ...and it's a shame too but keep on with this type of attitude , it's been going so great for this game so far .
No one wants to address real issues , they would rather get thrown bones and stay content with this hoshposh as long as they feel like their getting something out of the whole mix while you keep playing the same people and their alts over and over .
I guess your content with that , you and a vast majority I suppose .
Edit : I doubt you would be wiling to field standard and militia in a PC match , or would you ?

One of the downside of the risk-reward system that Dust has put in place is that when faced with losing a match, most people skimp on the "risk" side of the equation.
To make matters worse, there is no downside to simply leaving matches, which players/squads are doing with some frequency. Further deepening this challenge is that Scotty seems to not refill those matches fast enough to make a difference.
The combination of the above is leading to what Thor correctly identifies as problematic.
I'm not sure if it is game killing, but something needs to be done, IMO. |

1 guy was able to make 20 million isk every 20 minutes, 60 million an hour by farming districts.
Certain PC corps had up to 5 dedicated guys doing that all night.
They made billions of isk, so much that they will never ever be able to spend it all.
You can BPO farm all you want for 2-3 years and never touch the money that PC farms have.
Even some of the top gear traders are not even close to some of the PC player bank rolls.

My issue is the the perception that it is dying.
That perception is from all the matches that are not starting off as 16 vs 16.
There are already comments and threads on the forums where guys are talking like the playerbase is dwindling so much that they can't even fill up matches.
I know it is the match maker, but the average player don't.
So it is leading to people playing less and and less often.

I play a lot less than either of those two.
IIRC Kirk clocks in at around 3500 hours, while I'm at around 1600.
Not sure about Arkena, but it's surely higher.

It's not a Thor post unless it's laden with hyperbole. However if it stays like this it's going to hurt in a big way.
I don't hear the normal complaining that I used to hear about hit detection or lag, etc. It's the matches, normally I'd be complaining about that and others would be like "huh, wut". Not everybody like balls on fire 24/7, but we are a long, long way from that.
The veteran people I enjoy playing with are seeking tough fights, but when you are either redlining in seconds or getting crushed because your blues have bailed in most of your matches it gets old fast.
In many of the matches you still get plenty of kills and the match looks competitive clone wise, but there's little action on the objectives. I believe the number of solo players (no coordination) and the lack of resolve to keep pushing are big factors. To me it comes down to one thing, the lack of incentive to win. "Why push if it costs me ISK?" "Why waste time squading up, I just want to get my matches in."

I don't play PC, PC is also very limited.. those who run it get the chance to run a lot of expensive fits.. those who do not, because of the limited space.. are to use it here and there, with a mix of advanced also ..and when it gets rough, the option of standard/militia bpo.
If it wasn't for people who spend money , on that stuff you so hate.. you wouldn't even have a place to vent this anymore.. keep that i mind also.
If it's apex that has you angry now, I guess it's a little better than your standard bpo stuff.. but even then it's not that great and I own 2 and do not use them ll that often. The only bpo suit I like to use often, is a dren m-1 logi.which has multiple proto equipment on it.. so i'm losing isk quickly. |

So just so I understand. You're asking people to fight hard in there best suits (to stay competitive and not get stomped) while loosing 3 or 4 times what they are going to make in that battle so you can have a more enjoyable match. Pfffft. I do think increase payout will make people fight better with better gear an not hold back. And if your worry that vets will get richer, well we already have enough isk to keep us going for at least a couple of years. don't make me bring the picture with my 1000 proto suits. I showed it several times.

Not sure who all you're talking to there.
I think people that think increased payouts are going to benefit veterans more than everyone else are just not using that organ surrounded by their skull. Creating an environment where people fight it out to the end using everything at their disposal is better than having people shy away from tough situations.
I think this is step 1. Step 2 should be coming up with ways encourage people to squad up.

I took nearly a year off and the matchmaking is way better now. Much better to wait a few more minutes for a decent battle than having a proto squad facing a bunch of fresh out of the academy players.
It was the number 1 thing holding the game back

I play Dust regularly with lots of people who own a PS4 yet play Dust more than anything else.
Dust has a hook that keeps many of us OG dudes around. Perhaps I'm just an outlier, but the people around me including myself have seen the overall quality of matches drop.

I'm pumped for people in this situation, I think newer players are less affected by the incentive vs asset loss conundrum. New players still realize this is an FPS.
