This post really belongs in the Trade, but anywho..
CCP really needs to get their act together, If people are getting scammed, INSTEAD of ignoring the problem and trying to hope it dissipates sooner or later how about actually setting up an ability to activly trade, to chose, and have both players confirm the trade to ensure a proper trade instead of this pathetic "Middle-Man" required trade.
This would literally save the forums time from putting scammers names up.
Oh yeah, by the way, gonna fix the dropship issues with RDVs blowing them up within the next 2 years or so?
Cause I've lost so many Proto, and Aur based vehicles to the point it's not worth risking them to RDV issues and over powered damage falls from RDV Reqs. Another lovely idea, if the vehicle is being dropped from the RDV and you wish to recall it, you should be able to recall it quicker while in your redline.
I dunno these would kind of be smart to address.. |

go ahead and file a petition to CCP that you got scammed, foam at the mouth a little in it too. They will have a nice laugh as they pass it around the room during beer thirty break |

CCP encourages players to do all sorts of underhanded things to each other. That's kinda the point of New Eden. Seriously the **** that happens in Dust is NOTHING compared to the hilarious shenanigans people do in EVE. You have NO idea.
So no, they're not ignoring scamming and hoping it will go away, they're fully prepared and willing to let it continue. Now should a more secure contract system be on the roadmap? Absolutely, and it is. But even with a contract system, all sorts of scams will still exist and I guarantee CCP will fully allow it.
To avoid getting scammed, don't fall for scams.

To set a clarification statement, I wasn't scammed or anything in that area, CCP needs to realize they're ignoing community and making up basically the clean up crew for what happens. They can prevent scamming by taking my idea and probably others most likely stated it prior, and actually use it instead of being blessed for ignorance. |

To avoid getting scammed, don't fall for scams. What I'm curious about is why they chose to implement this instead of contracts, or anything else where you can conclude an actual transaction.

Actually what they're doing is making peer to peer trading dangerous and thus encouraging 3rd party groups to set up escrow services in order to provide secure and reliable trading for a fee. In other words, this has instantly added and additional level of meta game play and is setting the stage for further iterations of a player driven market.
This is nothing but New Eden at its finest.

Because this could be implemented sooner and Rattati felt that getting something now was better than nothing now, even if a more robust system is in the works for later implementation?
Like seriously if you don't like the risk, either don't trade until a more secure system is in place, or use one of the several 3rd party escrow services that are popping up all over the place. it's not like someone is shoving a gun to your head and forcing you to trade just because the ability to do so has presented itself.

They already had the code for give isk, they probably just copied and pasted it then tweaked it a little. Remember this isn't their code either as most of the original dev team were sacked/left etc. I know c++ (computer language) and it's 10x harder to alter someone elese code than your own.

Interesting that you mention this, as I was just thinking...that a bunch of these scams, may indeed not be scams.. but alts of 3rd party people, trying to set up the market of 3rd party.. they are usually quick to jump in right after the posts..well should use 3rd party, **** your 3rd party..lol

That doesn't mean half ass a trade system, they sure didn't do it in EVE. It's just a poorly thought out system not a means to add a twist to the game.
Acquisition is terrible, matchmaking is terrible, your game is still riddled with bugs, you should feel bad.

As for me, i don't deal with that market ****, too much work for my taste. However I do enjoy watching what people come up with on both sides.

EVE has been around longer and has a bigger dev team. I'll just let that sink into your head for a bit.

exactly, it's on me. Guess what though, 5 successful trades so far and nothing bit me. I'm not new to this ****, I have been scammed, and have done some very lucrative scamming myself in Eve, my best being around 13 billion for a week of bullshitting a gullible corp. I never once used a 3rd party, only time I'd reccomend it is if you are spending a huge amount. Our corp in Eve did once use chribba for a 3rd party for a Super Carrier trade...because that ***** was hell-a-expensive |

And that's what really makes this kind of gameplay awesome. It's chaotic and messy but it gives you options with various levels of risk involved with each. I mean regardless of your personal opinion of 3rd party services, you have to admit that that kind of player driven gameplay is part of what makes New Eden great.
