CCP encourages players to do all sorts of underhanded things to each other. That's kinda the point of New Eden. Seriously the **** that happens in Dust is NOTHING compared to the hilarious shenanigans people do in EVE. You have NO idea.
So no, they're not ignoring scamming and hoping it will go away, they're fully prepared and willing to let it continue. Now should a more secure contract system be on the roadmap? Absolutely, and it is. But even with a contract system, all sorts of scams will still exist and I guarantee CCP will fully allow it.
To avoid getting scammed, don't fall for scams.

They can prevent scamming by taking my idea and probably others most likely stated it prior, and actually use it instead of being blessed for ignorance.
Actually what they're doing is making peer to peer trading dangerous and thus encouraging 3rd party groups to set up escrow services in order to provide secure and reliable trading for a fee. In other words, this has instantly added and additional level of meta game play and is setting the stage for further iterations of a player driven market.
This is nothing but New Eden at its finest.

To avoid getting scammed, don't fall for scams. What I'm curious about is why they chose to implement this instead of contracts, or anything else where you can conclude an actual transaction. There's HTFU and there's just FU.
Because this could be implemented sooner and Rattati felt that getting something now was better than nothing now, even if a more robust system is in the works for later implementation?
Like seriously if you don't like the risk, either don't trade until a more secure system is in place, or use one of the several 3rd party escrow services that are popping up all over the place. it's not like someone is shoving a gun to your head and forcing you to trade just because the ability to do so has presented itself.

Interesting that you mention this, as I was just thinking...that a bunch of these scams, may indeed not be scams.. but alts of 3rd party people, trying to set up the market of 3rd party.. they are usually quick to jump in right after the posts..well should use 3rd party, **** your 3rd party..lol
I love your tinfoil. Let that paranoia flow through you.
As for me, i don't deal with that market ****, too much work for my taste. However I do enjoy watching what people come up with on both sides.

Knightshade Belladonna wrote: exactly, it's on me. Guess what though, 5 successful trades so far and nothing bit me. I'm not new to this ****, I have been scammed, and have done some very lucrative scamming myself in Eve, my best being around 13 billion for a week of bullshitting a gullible corp. I never once used a 3rd party, only time I'd reccomend it is if you are spending a huge amount. Our corp in Eve did once use chribba for a 3rd party for a Super Carrier trade...because that ***** was hell-a-expensive
And that's what really makes this kind of gameplay awesome. It's chaotic and messy but it gives you options with various levels of risk involved with each. I mean regardless of your personal opinion of 3rd party services, you have to admit that that kind of player driven gameplay is part of what makes New Eden great.
