Do you guys ever feel like there's nothing left to learn, nothing left to prove, nothing novel to seek and the day to day has turned into an incessant blur of normalcy? Maybe I'm a thrill seeker, but I thought that life had the potential of being exciting and engaging like anything could happen.
Real life has let me down, and I have done things that many would consider to be living on the edge. I was hoping for some solid video game entertainment as technology improved, but everywhere I look, I'm disappointed, disenchanted and underwhelmed. What is wrong with me? I try to focus on the positive, but I feel like nothing ever meets my expectations any more.
I have big ideas, but as they develop, I realize how I'll never have the resources or time to achieve them. Am I missing out on some inspiring secret, or am I realistic in thinking that the future will be a sequence of meaningless boredom?
Thank you for those of you who will respond with thought provoking comments like "can I haz your ISK" and "go kill yourself". It is evidence of the zombie epedimic - people too daft or afraid to think of the implications of lacking the next step, a higher level, or a personal breakthrough.
To anyone with actual insight, your views are welcome, although I have thought about this topic from every angle imaginable. The best I can hope for is some honest commiseration.

That right there. Never say those words bruh. You do not know exactly what the future holds, you could be in a totally different position a year from now. My advice to you, don't give up, never give up. You may realize and see your ideas to fruition.
I don't have any fancy smancy insight, I just have the most corny words, don't give up on those dreams. Keep moving forward.

I don't have any fancy smancy insight, I just have the most corny words, don't give up on those dreams. Keep moving forward. ^That^ being said, also don't be afraid to move on either. There's been lots of things I's been excited about doing in the past then worked on them for some time and realized that isn't what I want after all, "giving up" and "moving on" aren't the same thing. It takes some self reflection to figure out which one it is though. As for the "...never have the resources or time to achieve them." **** that, so you've got a problem? figure out how to solve it and it's step one on the way to your endgame if that's what you want.
also I'm not too sure if this was very clear it makes more sense in my head lol

It is the opposite for me. I always feel like I could learn more. I went through a lot to get to the point I am now. Joined the military right after high school and had my experiences traveling the world. Did my time and when I felt it was time to go I moved on. I never planned to make it a permanent thing so I was always thinking ahead. When I separated I used what I earned to pay my way through college. Due to the types of hours I worked, it was very difficult to have time for school while I was in. For what I wanted to learn, I wanted to be on campus for. So I just waited until the right moment came along. My real goal was to be a game designer. I didn't know much about it at first but over time I became very proficient while learning the different types of software. Even when I received praise for my work, I was never 100% happy with it. I was always thinking on how to improve on what I have done. I was always watching tutorials or asking questions about what could be done differently to make it better. When I did traditional drawing, I spent many hours practicing them daily.
I didn't have all the resources others schools had and I made do with what I had. Worked off demos and other work arounds to get what I needed when resources were limited. My former instructor noticed that even though I had very little to work with, I was working harder and putting out better work than the people with the advantage in technology. Actually walked up to me after watching me build models and said that to me. What keeps me going is never truly being completely happy with what I do and always striving to improve. The second I get the feeling I can't do anything better, something is wrong. That is the one thing that makes me want to do more. Without that, you will have a hard time getting towards a goal.
Finished college many years later and graduated with honors. Even though I was in game design, I didn't play games when it came to getting through school. Others would mess around and not take it seriously. I was always propped in front of a book or looking at tutorials, even in my free time. It payed off though when I aced every single exam. The others would look at me with a confused stare, trying to figure out how I was doing it. The main reason for that is I always dedicated time to what I needed to do and I never waited until the last minute. When I needed to get something done, I immediately got started on it. After all I have experienced over the years, I always try to find ways around problems. The answer may not always be right in front of you but over time it will hit you. There will always be barriers that will get in your way, you simply have to be stubborn enough to keep trying to get around them lol. If you stop, it is pretty much the end of any accomplishment.
Even after all of that, I am still improving on what I have learned over the years. Kept a lot of the habits of researching what I want to know and I put time aside for it. In the end it will be up to you. Just don't ever stop trying. I am doing the same to this day and looking forward. You have to slowly work your way up, start small and over time when you are able, do bigger things.

Nothing wrong with dreaming big.
The difficulty is finding the path that takes you there. What you have now isn't relevant.
You didn't have speech capabilities when you were young, but learned and honed them along the way.
The trick is finding what skills you need now, with the resources you have, that will take you to the next step.
And MOST IMPORTANTLY, to not let the limits of your imagination become a hindrance. Be open the the possibilities and opportunities that come your way as you grow.
In the end, you may find that you never achieved your original dreams, but you might be happier, and you might even find you weren't dreaming big enough.

^^^^^^ All I have to say is Amen to you.
Right now in college I'm taking classes for my major to transfer to a UC.
I'll have to complete and take the following
- 3 Computer classes in coding
- Finish Math till Calculus 3. (Right now I'm in Trigonometry which its not easy)
Although during the summer I'm taking Pre Calculus, Fall Calculus 1, Spring Calculus 2, and Summer Calculus 3.
- A couple of Physics classes = I never took one in high school but I am looking forward to it. - A couple of English classes = good. - Chemistry classes as well.
In terms of friends I really don't make much. I usually hangout with this guy and his major is Computer Science while my is Chemical Engineering. Whenever we rent a room at the library its all just studying.
I take advice from those who are finishing and he or she tells me " always hangout with those who will help you and who have a dream = You'll be successful. if you hang out with those who party, stupid, and lazy = They'll make you fail."
Even one of my friends who's in high school tells me "is it true that you party when going to college?" I tell him " really did you really just tell me that ? my honest answer to you is NO you don't party nor go crazy in college. If you believe that then that person is a joke and stupid. Don't believe what others say because I can tell you that person hasn't been to college."
I even ask myself this ---> " I know its a lot of work that I put into but in the end all those days of staying up late, studying, reading, ect... will pay off in the end."
Even now I rarely touch the ps3 and with this game = don't play much = Its good I guess. In 5 weeks the semester will end for me = It won't be easy since the past 9 weeks = Been HELL lol.
Keep up the good work and keep moving forward. If you ever have a bad day then its ok because tomorrow is going to be a new day = :D

Lol JIMvc2, I pretty much did exactly that. I wasn't really around the people that went out partying when they were supposed to be studying. They ended up regretting that decision later on. Without really saying much, it was easy to spot the people that were trying to get their work done. We all ended up running into each other and helped when needed. People would always try to invite me to random parties but I would look at the mound of work I had to do lol. Had barely any free time really, I was always working on some project or reading. With the way the school I went to worked, one day is equal to a weeks worth of work. So if they slacked off even for one day, they really dug themselves in a hole.
I would see people scrambling at the last minute, panicking to get their stuff done on time and I would just be sitting there smiling. I made a few friends but by the time I went to school, there was a huge age gap between me and the majority of other students. So it was hard for me to really relate to them because of that. I was pretty much in the mindset to just get things done and move on. Seen a lot of people just not taking it serious and they would be confused as to why they are struggling. I ended up meeting people from different programs that shared some of the overlapping classes. Some were fashion, graphic design, and IT students. While I was learning about web design, a lot of them ended up in there. Later on we met again in the art classes lol. I really enjoyed the animating classes, it was an interesting experience.
When I studied for every exam, I would read for two hours and take a 30 minute break. I would turn on my game and just relax. Soon as the 30 minutes were up, I picked up where I left off and kept repeating until I got tired. Soon as I did, I stopped and would continue the next day. I tried not to over study, I knew if I did I would just forget the information at that point so I made sure to pace myself. Never scored lower than an A on any test I took there lol. I had studied the information so much I could pretty much recite it within seconds. I made it a habit and it just became effortless after that.
There were some long nights where I was having to build levels and have concept art ready to be seen. For each drawing I spent a minimum of four hours on them. I had fun doing it, even though it is a lot of work involved. I would spend the majority of my time just doing that before I had to get ready for the next day. Even if it seems stressful at times, it is worth it in the end. When that day finally comes, it is like a huge amount of weight has been lifted off you. I was smart about it and planned ahead lol. I did all the gen ed classes and electives right off the bat. i spaced them out though so the more difficult classes were not given to me all at once. When I got all those done, I pretty much came to school just to learn about games and art. Felt nice having that out of the way. Good luck with the rest of college, I am sure you will do just fine. Those last weeks are like having an orbital dropped on you lol. I was getting spammed with all kinds of projects. Ended up having to set a day aside for each individual one to get everything done on time. The closer I got to that graduation date, the happier I became.
I don't always win 1v1, but when I don't...I cry for nerfs. Stay nerfing my friends.

Maybe I shouldn't ve the person you should listen to but I involve myself in Pessimistic optimism. With the world slowly dwindling and everything becoming mediocre, I accept the fact that I as a individual has done everything in my power to change what I can and accept what I can't. I'm not religious but I believe that comes from the bible, oh well. Accept what you can't change and what will change you and live the rest of your life without burden. Be optimistic on the days to come that are what they are. Like I said, my point of view is depressing and difficult to follow but it's my road I chose. I hope the best for you.
