If we did lose some players to a platform switch it would not be more than the players we would gain from migrating to PC. Put Legion on Steam and watch the player population skyrocket out of control. Given that a very decent number of multiplayer FPS games on steam have smaller playerbases, that's not true at all.
And considering there's at least 5 times the competition compared to consoles.
Actually, I always thought CCP missed a big opportunity with the PS4. They could have been one of the really few free to play FPS on PS4, and the fact that online gaming for any other kind of title besides Free to play games, is subscription based, that would have granted even more players to Dust. In other words, free marketing for CCP. I also understand that developing for a new platform while guaranteeing the functionality of the old platform game is a really important investment, but it would have been worth imo.
Guinea Dust Bunnies are watching you, CCP Rouge.

You see, this is what CCP can easily do. Someone brings up if the game will be moved to a different platform and the arguments and back and forths start over whether it should be Playstation 4 or PC. The argument continues and continues and CCP never has to step in because it becomes people arguing over something they do not have to make a statement on: Computers and Consoles.
The question is NOT "Which system will DUST move to, if at all?" That is the question that just gets lost out because it becomes a case of "X versus Y." That is not that interesting of a question, especially considering where DUST is at the moment.
The question should be "Does CCP intend to transition to a different system or have that as a goal?"
This isn't a "well, do you want a repeat of FanFest 2013 or 2014 where it is nothing concrete?" In fact, that is a non-sequitur. Isn't it odd that Rattat and CCP have not made their intentions known on the concept of transition, that we do not know if the developers of the game even intend to overcome the limitation that they know freely admit hampers their design?
It doesn't matter what system DUST ends up on right now. We don't know if there is any kind of will or desire to transition the game. We don't need something concrete or even a big announcement. How about something like:
"We have nothing to announce at the moment. However, we are currently interested in the process of transitioning DUST 514 from the current system to another."
"This is B.S! This is B.S! I paid money! Cash money, dollars money, cash money!"
