It's not perfect.
While locking/charging or firing, AV weapons ad +100 to the profile Db.
Any profile greater than 100 automatically causes a radar blip to flash rapidly

Yes, every other combined-arms game I have played gives some warning to a player when they are locked-up by a seeker weapon.
Dust would benefit from this as well.

I want this too, but Rattati has already said he won't add in any sort of lock warning. HE seems to harbor a grudge against vehicles.

I'm more inclined to believe it's a matter of resources.

I thought he said that lock on mechanisms *couldn't* be added. Not that he didn't want them. I actually just found the source. My guess is that is is some fundamental coding problem more than a resource problem, largely because its in the same category as multiple grenade slots and the Rail Rifle damage curve

My idea is not perfect and really hoses me in my preferred role in many ways.
But it's an idea for a workaround on the lock warning issue.
No-warning AV means that when vehicles are reasonably balanced AV will always get a shot in before the active defenses go up.

Going by the numbers in the example, AV users are going to be lit up on the TACNET like a Christmas tree on fire. That would pretty much kill any chance the AV have of setting up an ambush, since vehicles (and everyone else on the red team) will know where they are the moment they start charging.
Instead, what if Swarm volleys produced a warning beep like Proximity mines? That would give pilots some sort of warning regarding in bound AV without completely screwing over AV.

I would like it if FOR DROPSHIPS ONLY you had a warning that you were gunna be hit by missiles

Ratt said not possible before.
But i disagree. Give the swarms themselves a dB... And make that thing light up the tacnet baby.
Or... Make an invisible sphere around the dropship that extends 100-150m out... Give it hit detection... But it doesn't destroy the object... So it's just intangible per se.
Enter that sphere then WOOP WOOP away.
Or just make it like proxies that fly.

Thing is swarms lock on too damn fast to react to a missile lock. By the time you hear it it will have already fired.
I guess some reaction time is better than none though.
As long as 5/6 (83%) of infantry AV weapons are Anti Armor based you're never going to achieve vehicle balance CCP

I guess some reaction time is better than none though. Having that moment to activate your shield hardener(s), which would actually help shield vehicles compared to armour.

I guess some reaction time is better than none though. The length of the lock on time is irrelevant if the point of the warning is to sound on lock on, not on attempt. And in my understanding, the point of the lock on warning isn't so much to be able to somehow avoid the lock, but having advance warning of the incoming hit and being able to start reacting to it, and also increasing the chance of avoiding follow up shots... as it is, often the first warning a pilot will have is the actual hit itself, at which point there may already be another volley on the way.
