I don't really do PC, nor do I ever purchase clone packs. Where do I get my own clones? Well for pubs and FW, the NPC corp that hires you. Doesn't matter if you're in a player corp or not, when you do a pub or FW you're working for an NPC corp. I dont think they are quite understanding, as someone said it before you. When que for a pub match, you will see on the battle finder that their are 2 npc corps fighting each other (attacker and defender.) These two npc corps supply the 50, 80, and 150 clones packs respectively. When you enter a PC match, the two corps (attacker and defender) have to supply the clones. The clones are always paid for before the match starts, regardless of PC or pub.

The one I'm having trouble wrapping my head around is the NPC corps buying the clones for us. It makes sense that the contracts allow us to use a limited amount of clones per battle, but would that limit is to a certain amount of clones per mercenary (150/16, etc) or is it a group contact made by the whole team? If so, why do matches allow mercenaries to pop in at random intervals if needed, without the update of said contracts?
What am I agreeing to, anyways? Where am I able to read said contracts? Damn you, politics!
Also, if clone costs come along with the suits, why are the BPOs made for free? Does it provide the clone for free as well? I doubt we'd be able to manufacture clones at our leisure, but I could be wrong. It is a group contract. When the match starts the 32 mercs assigned to it are under contract. Thats why if you dont spawn in you will hear Terra say "you are contractually obligated to participate in battle" or whatever it is. This is where the immersion falls apart. If we really are under contract, why isn't there a fee to leave battle (early release dues or whatever?)
Clones do not come with the suits. We are free to change between suits while still in the same clone, just as eve pilots do with ships. In eve though, they have a "pod" which forever houses the clone. I would assume we dont need pods as we never leave the station unless prepared for battle.
