There is a distinct possibility that we will have dropsuit skins in the near-ish future. Maybe... probably.
This is CCP we're talking about so we can never be sure anything will happen. Work with me here.
Let's suppose that skins do become a thing. Assuming skins are organized by [Size] [Race] [Skin Color]... Medium Amarr Navy for example. Also assume they will be BPO's. How much would you pay for a single skin?
I would not not pay more than 4000 AUR ($1.99 USD) per skin. Thoughts?

TIGER SHARK1501 wrote:Under the premise that it would be superficial only $1.99USD sounds fair. Skins would be 100% cosmetic. Dropsuit BPOs provide the player with a small advantage: a free dropsuit. Skins do absolutely nothing except make you look a bit different.
I should also mention that some of the skins would be available from their respective LP stores for a hefty price, much the same way we see APEX dropsuits.

When something is for sale in the Marketplace my first thought is "that's too much no way". Then guess what I do? guess what I ****** do? I end up buyin that gosh darn ***** anyway lol. So hopefully not too many people that play Dust think like me.............. jeez It happens to the best of us. There are times when I think Dust should be investigated and have regulations put on it like a controlled narcotic.
Harry Bawlss wrote:Shouldn't pay for skins. Should be something to earn. Why? Cheap, purely cosmetic purchases are great ways to keep a F2P funded and devs employed. A whole helluva lot better than dropsuit BPOs.
Also, I said in an earlier post that you can optionally earn the skins in the LP store for each faction. That allows people who can't / won't buy aurum to still earn a skin.

CommanderBolt wrote:It entirely depends how they work precisely and more importantly how do they look!
Aurum wise I would expect that they would be a little more expensive than a mere 4k aurum but there are many possibilities to have LP ones for the factions. In my mind, there would be a special slot in the fitting window that would accept a skin module. These skin modules can be moved around in the same way any other module can.
Of course, I am speculating.
If CCP keeps with the primary colors of the navy factions in Eve Online then these skins should look pretty nice. I see your point though.
Something we haven't considered yet: what if CCP made these skins BPCs. 4000 AUR for 1000 Medium Amarr Navy skins or something like that. I have to say I would probably not purchase skins if they were BPCs. Would anyone else?

With cosmetic items like this the cheaper CCP can afford to make them, the better. You want new players who have played a week to look at the market and see something they can easily justify spending money on with a very low price point.
Look at League of Legends and their champion skins. I have played maybe 10 hours of LoL but I still bought a Nexus skin just because he looked badass and it was pocket change.

Gallente Light 'Quafe'
You could stick it on a std, adv, or proto dropsuit.

Pokey Dravon wrote:Considering a BPO suit is roughly $10, one would assume the BPO itself and the skin applied to it would add together to be about $10.
That being said, a 70/30 rule seems pretty appropriate. $7 for the Skinless BPO, and $3 for the skin.
CCP really needs to go for the Little Big Planet model. If you price things like this extremely cheap, you will likely make more money in the long run because of many units sold, rather than price them higher and sell fewer units.
I won't think twice about spending $2-3 on a skin. I'd be far more reluctant to spend $5+ I wonder if dropsuit BPO's will even be much of a thing after skins go live. The only reason I ever bought standard dropsuit BPOs was to have a spiffy looking paint job. The ISK savings on a standard dropsuit is negligible; 3000 ISK for a medium, 4500 ISK for a heavy?
$3 is acceptable. I could still see myself buying a skin at that cost.
I think skin packs need to be released as well. The old 'Buy X get 1 free' tactic has been around forever and it works.

Slave of MORTE wrote:0 aurum if I could get em for isk maybe If they are anything like the APEX dropsuits, you can earn them with a combination of LP and ISK. Rattati has hinted that we should save our LP from the LP event this weekend because of some new items in the store; maybe skins are those items.
How much would you be willing to pay in ISK? What about LP + ISK? I personally think the LP/ISK cost of the APEX dropsuits is ******* insane.
