I do want to play against good players. But I don't want 16 vs 6 and 10 shitberries.
Protip. If you play domination, getting to the point fast is key. Defense is easier than offense.
FFS raise the ISK payout. Do something to get these people to participate in your ******* game. Hey, maybe they are trying to get us into FW?
I've always said the best matchmaking is no matchmaking! At least as far as DUST goes.
As long as 5/6 (83%) of infantry AV weapons are Anti Armor based you're never going to achieve vehicle balance CCP

The passive in-match skillpoints were a poison that worked it's way into the mentality of the vets(it should now be removed from noobs because matchmaking).
The laughable anti-AFK measures that were 'overlooked' for years. Still are, afaik.
The lack of a differential payout mechanic for WP/sp that rewards a 100,000,000 sp vet in full officer gear and squadded with 5 similar monsters the exact same WP for killing a noob as it rewards a noob in a starter medic fit for killing that vet. In a rpg/mmo with a deeply asymmetric playing field.
A New Eden contract 'system' that was really, truly all warm and fuzzy on the inside. Can you imagine the Serpentis contract manager saying 'Oh, i'm sorry little merc, is the battle making you feel uncomfortable? Well that's ok, don't you worry just come over here and have a sit-down and a nice cuppa tea. No need to fret about these things because we'll still pay you when all the hubbub dies down.' The serpentis i know would throw that poor merc in a vat of nanite goo and fish out his implant later - there's good money in implants.
An endless supply of New Eden corporations willing to employ serial contract breakers.
A nice 'Redline Lounge' where players can entertain and amuse themselves, or just take a nap if they're feeling sleepy while their teammates fight, die and are bankrupted by impossible odds.
So CCP negligence/game design has served to compound what is least admirable in human nature. Perhaps the answer is those mercs are spoiled goods now and they just need to die and new blood take their place.
I hope not, tbh, would much rather keep the vets. Some better student of human nature will have to solve this problem.
You just wrote an essay. The TLDR is that current behavior was gradually ingrained into this playerbase for nearly 2 years via crappy incentives.
You really only need to go back to the first pass on FW when Fox Four was hung up on the need for an ISK sink. The initial numbers for LP in FW were awesome. Days after the initial Dev blog the proposed payouts were slashed.
This was at a time when activity in PC really started to level out at a very small number of players in comparison to the overall playerbase. You had a tiny little fraction of the community made up of the best players bringing in billions of ISK. The answer to that issue was to limit the earnings of everyone else????
I was screaming to the rooftops more than 2 years ago that this would happen. It's not rocket science. With these payouts in reality all these mercs would have turned on their leaders and taken all the ISK. |

Why have pubs at all? Toss everyone into FW and make them choose a one-time faction hierarchy preference (Am, Min, Gal, Cal for example), with an override for squads. Sort of like the initial racial choice, but with a point. Beef up the payouts and give bonuses for desired activities like squadding up, etc.
KDR matchmaking fixes everything but the stupid purple Quafe stuff.
