Hello,
CCP Rattati, CPM, or any upper / middle involvement with CCP I need this clarified.
Does holding districts in DUST 514 still produce benefits for EVE and DUST 514?
This is crucial information that I and many would like to know for sure.
Thank you.
Thank god for CCP Rattati!
Rogue Relics is my home away from home.
Thank you CCP for getting DUST 514 back on track!

Thank you. Marginal POS benefits are gained from owning Districts (entire planet) but as for benefits Eve side that seems to be losing ground. Currently there is no real incentive whatsoever for an Eve pilot to move system to support a Dust corp or alliance based on the benefits offered.
I am not a CPM or CCP Rattati, but I have investigated the benefits and negative sides and have been playing Dust since Closed Beta, most notably the amount of POS fuel used if that POS is anchored and online at a planet that your corp owns being lessened.
That is the entire planet mind you not just one (from what I remember during my time in PC). The cost of that POS fuel will likely be offset by the suits destroyed in the PC battles in the attempt to take it as well as the Ships lost trying to support your corp. This is not for the faint of heart or the player with a light wallet.
Pilots do not receive isk for battles they drop OBs on, nor do they gain SP for killing mercs. They may acquire loot from enemy OB droppers or other PVPers they encounter in Lowsec but keep in mind, ship losses will pile up if you are not skilled at Eve PVP.
One benefit for Eve Pilots is the increase in number of targets available to the PVP segment during the battles as many poorly equipped pilots (dust players not understanding how to pilot, or fit their ships) take to the heavens and go and attempt to support their corp.

Everybody I talked to during my short EVE stint, said it's not worth the hassle. Also Dust influenced noobish EVE guys are not used to the very organized way EVE players do their things, which leads to a lot of problems.
What I gathered though, was if the districts would give defense bonuses to POS's or fleets close to them, that would be a much bigger incentive.
In my opinion, districts should generate resources that EVE players can't get otherwise, or just for insane amounts of money. This would make it profitable to hold districts for EVE corps, and really connect the two games. |

The problem that the Devs have is making EVE players benefit from helping Dust bunnies, without making it so that they are too heavily dependent on this cooperation.
Jack-of-most-trades, master of one.

The devs don't want to make the benefit too great because they are worried that someone will slide into an easy monopoly and control it. Which is possible, but all the tools in the sandbox exist specifically to stop that from happening as well.
In short, someone at CCP lost their marbles and has no faith in player driven conflict.
Usually banned for being too awesome.

In short, someone at CCP lost their marbles and has no faith in player driven conflict. Its quite possible that all the negative player interest in the Incarna release is heavily influencing Devs at this point as well. They like having active subs, some would say they depend on it and they would be right. For more details on the reaction to a bunch of stuff that happened in Incarna, please use Google and search "Incarna Jita Riots Eve Online". That should give you a bit of a history lesson about player driven content and how devs respond to some of it.

The reasons for the Jita riots, and the complete and utter fiasco that the World of Darkness project was, gives me not too much trust in any of the CCP head honchos!
The only guy that has shown promise, and connection to the playerbase, seems to be the Ratt. If CCP is giving him enough leeway, AND funds, we might see improvements.
But still, there is this glorified single shard universe (build with duct tape), which in my opinion might be the biggest hurdle for all eve franchises in the long run. In my eyes, the connection betwheen EVE and Dust, though one of the selling points, might as well be one the biggest problems the game will have regarding lag and other improvements. |

I don't believe the single shard has any thing to do with the lag, in fact constant hardware upgrades have been done sine Eve was launched over 10 years ago, it is a problem for many Eve players though, the most common complaint being "console kiddies" should not affect my real world valued investment...in a video game. It is a lack of understanding by Eve players that Dust has many adults playing, although you will still get some console kiddies, its not as widespread (I believe, but idk for sure) as what most un-informed Eve players believe. This causes riots, and such in game, the thought that someone they believe they can have no affect upon (even though dropping an OB causes a significant isk loss for a good number of people if done right) has an affect upon their game by being part of it. Hence lack of interest in having mercs part of new eden as anything other than pets or a cute side game.

Considering hardware upgrades, what I gathered, sounds more like additions, and not like a complete replacement. So basically the minmatar style ducttaping stuff to the old stuff. Similar things seem to be going on in the coding department.
It's basically the same problem windows had, with having dos as underlying construct, which hindered development quite a bit.
Whatever, the whole project development at CCP has less than stellar records so far...
That the EVE guys don't want us to influence their game, is understandable, but could be countered with more intermingling with them in local chat for example. I have some characters who got placed in random stations and EVE startercorps after return from biomass. So my local is basically EVE pilots and no dusters whatsoever. This leads to some chats with eve guys, who are curious what a lone merc is doing in those systems. My Idea, is that all Dusters get spread out much more, so that we have more entanglements with the EVE dudes. On creating the characters, we should be put in EVE starter corps, and not in these Dust only starter corps.
If we don't communicate with EVE guys on a regular basis, they will never know, that there are quite a lot of grown ups in this game!

It's not hard to listen to how EVE pilots run fleet, spend 15 mins working through those fleet requirements, and then implementing them.
