When even the biggest game studio users of Aim assist have an actual competitive game mode? Aim assist is either more of a hindrance in end game competitive play or is removed from being able to be used.
DUST 514 In PC if a player was to turn off Aim assist... They would be putting themselves in a worse position then someone who has it on.
This is a game mode where millions and millions of ISK is largely dictated by an Aim assist mechanic... As if it was removed there would be a completely different match.
Maybe if DUST was mainly a PVE shooter with a Multiplayer PVP mode as an after thought, And Worth while Game modes like PC didn't exist..... Then Aim assist at Destiny's level would make sense?

Why should aiming be the basis for the game?
It's not auto aim that allows scouts to win, it is lag. He who does not lag and see his opponent frame dropping wins.
If auto aim is the reason for better success thwn why not turn on auto aim and play on the same level?
If you are such a good shot then what's the problem?

Ex-f'kin-actly. That Destiny argument is at best irrelevant to the argument and at worst a red herring.
This is a game which will someday have endgame battles with mind-bogglingly high stakes. We will be putting orders of magnitude more on the line that any other game can imagine, with the repercussions of victory/defeat potentially affecting hundreds or thousands of players.
The high stakes and connectedness of what we may have in Dust should be the primary motivation for two design goals:
1) High fidelity aiming & movement mechanics with no aim assist. As much as possible these should be skill-based contests.
2) Console(currently PS4), because botting will always be a thing. In a meaningless game like CoD although it's annoying as hell it doesn't really 'matter', but in a game where battles may be fought over mountains of ISK/strategicresources and involve hundreds of hours of prep and huge investment/commitment by many players it sure as hell does matter.
If somebody was found cheating and it affected the outcome of a battle, CCP would be able to ban the offender but there's no way they could turn back the clock on the battle results.

Some people are simply that good with an AFG, I know a couple of them. also you might have 2 AFGs shooting you without realizing it. couple of guys in corp always run as a team and using attack orders to pick thier targets.

forge guns dont have aim assist.
if forge guns had aim assist they would miss literally every shot due to the fact that the projectile has a travel time....

Now don't matter. Every can be 'god' in aiming. With wepons like ASCR or CR.
AA only for newborn at academy!
ABOUT AFG - personal expirience: I don't use AA in Dust. My personal aim-bot ;) can handle 3 of 4 shoot hit target about 80%. Last hit is about 50% (target - hide/ run in panic/ inantry kill you etc) Farthest kill with AFG 298m. If you get killed at 350, probably after last shoot heavy got remoted and fly away fster then you... it's happen ;)

Actually no, haven't touched any COD for 8 years now, and I'm quite happy with that, anyway. The thing is, as I said in the post above, you will never be "undetected". It's simply a matter of time: report the guy and if he's using an aimbot he'll get his permaban, that's it. Moreover, you'll need a Custom Firmware: With the last year's update (can't remember which one exactly) you might not want to go online with a custom firmware, since there's a huge chance you'll get caught within 1-2 days. Also, COD is not a server based game, so the host might be the cause of the vast majority of the troubles you might have with the game: lagswitching etc.

To anyone saying that PC games have no aim assist, you're totally wrong: aim assist is made up by many more factors than the simple aim friction/magnetism: the latter is, actually, a console exclusive, considering the gamepad does not give you the same precision a mouse might give, but there are a tons of other "aim assist" mechanisms which also tends to compensate lag somehow. Just naming one, bullet magnetism.

[fast target vs dmg taken] The boxes that you see in the videos (around enemies and allies) look like a wallhack, but its just a glitch in dust. If you try to put a defend order on an objective or person, but dont accurately target them, sometimes the box sticks to your target cursor. I have had it happen quite a few times, and the only way to fix it is to relog. It seems to help a bit with the forgegun, but its just annoying if you use a rifle.

The only glitch I see in this video is the order glitch that sometimes wont disapear until you pick another one. He's not cheating nor using aim assist as THERE IS NO AIM ASSIST ON FORGE GUNS. Don't be jealous if someone can shoot better than you do.
2. The problem is both server side and client side, hit detection in some weapon will usually deal nothing to 0 damages even if the game runs smooth because hit boxes and hit detection is very badly made in Dust. Then there is the lag problem which makes things even worse.
All the AA does is trying to hide the terrible hit detection this game has with a poor bullet magnetism that works randomly.
Fix the game before trying to add anything else.
