Medium weapons fit in only medium weapon slots. All light weapons fit in medium slots, and heavy slots.
Medium weapons should include combat rifles, scrambler rifles, rail rifles, and assault rifles.
Scouts keep their L-S slots. Commandos get 1 M 1 L. Logis keep their L accept for ammar who gets 1 M no S. Assaults and basic medium frames get 1 M 1 S |

One: your reasoning behind this would be nice.
Two: what value does removing the option to carry a rifle for certain suits bring?
Three: how does a combat rifle count as a "medium weapon" when a plasma cannon (which is much larger and more clunky) is a light weapon?
Why do we need yet another class of weapon To shove rifles into?
What is your logic for why this should be a thing?
Except for a few key writing cues, I would normally dismiss this topic as another trollpost based on the premise.

The problem then is that we no longer have reasonable choices left for most players in light weapons. We would likely be in need of carbines to fill this gap.
Secondly, i almost never play logi, but I think they should be able to carry a medium weapon, regardless of wether or not there are carbines.
Also, carbines might be a good idea anyway, since it would add more variety to the gun selection.
Jack-of-most-trades, master of one.

Except for a few key writing cues, I would normally dismiss this topic as another trollpost based on the premise. 1 assault weapons should be for assault players.
2 it shouldn't be removed. I am in support of a variant being added that is a light weapon.
3 it's not really a size issue. The light weapons should be support weapons.
4 another class can add more diversity, such as deployable machine guns.
5 this would add to the risk vs reward aspect of the game and overall increase TTK. |

1: bad premise, not a justification for change. It's an opinion. Every soldier in history ever has had some access to a battle rifle. making battle rifles limited to assaults is dumb.
2: this is unnecessary, and not justified by anything other than your assertion that assault weapons should only be for assaults.
3: Light weapons are smaller and lighter than heavy weapons. it would appear that size does, in fact, matter.
4: another class would be useful, but an AV specialized heavy suit, or a saboteur class scout or logi would be more appropriate than taking away a core weapon choice.
5: No it wouldn't. this assertion fails to pass muster when critical thinking and logic are applied: Example: shotguns are light weapons. not making them medium weapons leaves them in the hands of fast scouts, with the capacity to instablap people anyway. Example: HMG still tears people open almost instantly. Example: Plasma cannon can be carried by anyone and can instapop any suit in the game with a direct hit.
Further you have failed in any way to explain why this would be a good change except to deprive players of options. Removing options is always a crap idea unless those options are game-breaking. And significantly increasing TTK... why? the only thing increasing TTK does is benefit people who use the strafe exploit to bypass hit detection under the current mechanical meta of the game.

Idk... I always hoped for fitting "space" for your weapons... so you could be the guy with like 3/4 sidearms, or have a low fitting rifle and 2 low fitting sidearms.
I posted that here because it sounds familiar to what you said. I'm assuming you want a little more thought behind the fit?

A more intuitive way of doing this is to increase the CPU/PG cost of rifles, and bump up the fitting cost reduction bonus on assault suits correspondingly.
IF the logi HP buff that people are arguing for comes along, this may be interesting to consider, depending on how much of a buff they get. If it puts them somewhere between commandos and assaults, then it wouldn't be too bad to consider.
When I play as a logi, I try to always stick with at least one guy, but that guy isn't a god with perfect situational awareness; my friend can't tell if I'm being shot sometimes, for instance. I run a rifle because most of the engagements I get into happen at rifle range, and no other weapon except another rifle can answer fights like that.
Implementing the idea as you suggest will cause logis to lose most of their self-defense, and simply present themselves as easy targets to assault slayers. What's a couple of mass driver rounds or a shotgun going to do to an assault suit strafing lightly at 30-40m?
Which brings me back to the modification of the original proposal. If rifles ate up a bit more fitting space, AND logis got an HP buff, the tradeoff would be a bit better: gaining a rifle on a logi suit but lose access to perhaps better equipment or a stronger tank.

There is absolutely no justification for removing the battle rifles from any dropsuit in the game.
This is a poor idea That only removes options from some players while adding nothing to overall gameplay.

Poor idea with no balance justification and a pointless arbitrary reshuffling of system mechanics.
