First of all I must give thanks to Athanor Ruthoern formerly of EVE University, wormhole specialist and generally all round cool lady for offering me the spare ticket they had for the CEO Charity meal. Much appreciated o7
The meal this year was different from previous years by being less informal, with Dev's and Players mingling amongst each other allowing for much greater interaction and chat with a number of Dev's. CCP Rattati and myself were both there and answering a lot of questions questions about Dust 514 from the mostly Eve players that were there. These players were mostly supportive of Dust while having some issues with a couple of things within the game.
Put simply, there's a lot of Eve players that also play Dust but for whatever reason, keep it to themselves.
During the evening I spoke to several Dev's including CCP Nullabor about his time on Dust 514 and how much he likes the direction its going now.
And as the title of the thread says I spend some time speaking to Hilmar. Most of it was discussion about the CPM's role with CCP Shanghai, how much we talk to Rattati on a day to day basis and some of the difficulties that running a Dust corp or Alliance that Dust players have to cope with.
But later, as it got quieter I took the opportunity to directly address some of the issues raised in the forums today after the first day of streaming from Fanfest and he also asked me to relay it to all as quickly as I was able.
Understand now that this was an informal conversation, not an interview in anyway.
In regard to the long term future of Dust 514, the game is now a train with no plans to stop, just uncertain as to what platforms it might visit on the way (his analogy).
What he said earlier today in the Welcome to Fanfest as to Legion still stands, they've nothing new to report and in line with CCP's new policy and direction, that'll remain the case till they have something concrete and deliverable. He also spoke about how Legions announcement last year was premature and something that wouldn't happen now.
Rattati and the Shanghai team have been doing a phenomenal job on Dust and he's very pleased with how the game plays now.
Project Nemesis is a true tech demo, in the same vein as EVE-VR was two Fanfest's ago. It was created and iterated on by a a small group of guys in Shanghai, in their free time, while they worked to see what was possible using the GearVR Dev kit.
So I hope that answers some of your questions guys. I'll keep you appraised of anything else I hear about on Fanfests second day. o7

So what the CPM has known and hinted about in various channels, Dust 514 now makes money, is now out in the open and made official by Hilmar himself.
How is this is important? Dust is now a successful business. It's going to be rather silly for CCP to shut a revenue stream is it not? As CCP Falcon said to a Fanfest attendee when he stated that he thought Dust was dead, in every chart that matters, profit, player numbers and retention Dust is going up.
That isn't to say that we should dancing in the streets just yet but Aurum purchase made by players, simply strengthens the case for Dust to go beyond the PS3.
To make that point further CCP Rouge has also spoken more on Dusts future here.
