This might just be a rant, or maybe a complaint, but god dang I hate massdrivers. Its just, AHHHG. If you killed with one there is no hope, and you can almost always get killed with one no matter what your behind. (And I stay behind heavies frequently)
Its like BOOAMMM DEAD NO HOPE. EVERYONE ON THIS BATTLEFIELD IS ALLERGIC TO BULLETS NOT EXPLOSIVES. Explosives kill, bullets just annoy! I can stab someone with my Epi-pen to bring them back from an impressive allergic reaction to bullets, but I CAN'T SAVE NO ONE FROM THOSE MASSIVE DRIVERS.
Just. I can see where the Massdrivers are even with other weapons, as they have almost no ammo for a fight and require you to have a good sidearm. But they are just, to me, a cowards weapon. Either a coward or just a trolls weapon. You don't even have to HIT your target and you can kill them, terminate them, and make my Epi-pens useless...
That and Core Locus Grenades. I see most of those coming. >-> DOES ANYONE AGREE WITH ME? Freakin MASSDRIVERS SUCK.
I mean, if your good, I guess they don't suck, but they suck for everyone else... |

Mass drivers have pathetic ammo capacity and small clip sizes. I just let them run out of ammo then bum rush them. Of course, sometimes you will see a Caldari logi standing on his own hives, firing a continuous barrage of MD rounds in every direction...
I bid him good day and go about my business elsewhere.

Step 1, Get mass driver lvl 1 and use it.
Step 2, Realize that this weapon requires more skill then 90% of the weapons in this game and adapt or die. |

I like your Tears, they are so rare these days...
Thing is, that they have very low dps, NO AIM ASSIST and are horrible in certain ranges against any rifle.
They are however my tool of choice for breaking up Heavy/Logi trains. The MD is in a good spot right now, highly annoying, even devestating in the right hands, but also with enough drawbacks to make it in no way OP.
Try to kill a good heavy in cqc with a massdriver, if you think it's a noob tube... lol

So the Mass Driver, a weapon which requires you to calculate the location, speed, distance, and trajectory of every shot and target while also having the one of the highest TTKs in this game is a coward's tool?
Compared to Repair Tools which require that you do nothing but hold R1 and leash onto somebody? Or a rifle which requires you do nothing but move the mouse around and click the trigger?

You just need to spend time and learn with them and you will eventually get better with them. Trail and error, practice makes perfect. First time I ever really tried the Plasma Cannon, I killed myself about 5 times, died about 20 times and didn't even get a kill of my own.
I still regularly blow myself up but at least I can hit the buggers now

Let me make this a little legit.
I hate the blue bottle plus the MD since the heavy has no tool to fight back with so the meta is f'd. Most logis have been in grained with the "Never use your rifle" which I never supported as a heavy, but since you can rain MD on my heavy from the overhang and I can't even shoot back that part is rubbish. I will hold my breath waiting for Rat to apply the stack bonus to the blues or gives the heavies a mid range weapon.
So I am switching to my scout and assault with blues. Now the MD is worthless again. No more QQ, just change suits.
Now to start shotgunning and REing again, everyone will love this play style. Face Palm!

With the introduction of Echo (i.e. bunnyhop514), the weapons that are good from above (PLC, MD, Flaylock) have gotten a hidden buff. The QQ about the MD (i.e. this thread) is just a symptom of the underlying change in battlefield dynamics.
The good news is that it appears as if the usage of myofibs is reverting back towards the mean, with the realization that while that tactic is good for a few laughs, in the end it's not nearly as efficient as other ways to kill your opponent (i.e. kdr goes down). You're simply too squishy.
And if you pay attention to the players who are running this fit the above, almost without exception, that's precisely what you see -- a drop in KDR (although perhaps an increase in SPR -- smiles per round  ).
Now, meta and gameplay is an ever evolving thing, so none of us can truly predict it, but the above is what I see happening & IMO of course....Leadfoot |

MD's are my favorite weapon, AssMD are beast mode.

You need to learn to troll better young gupee. You are way too obvious and tryhardy in your attempt to fool the mass. Be more subtle. Be harsh in your insults. Pick on how fat their fat asses are and how pathetic and worthless their logi self is. Put more QQ in your tears. Insult their fat mothers.

Trust me when I drop that round at your feet from across the map it wasn't luck. When I take out your uplink crammed in that tight spot it wasn't because I got close, I dropped that nade dead on it. If I am spamming a spot, its because I am denying reds the ability to flank my teammates who are engaged in a firefight. Change the subject of this thread to PLC's and the same applies.

Mass driver spam is an integral component of CCP's New Player Retention Model, second only to getting stuck on ledges and gunned down.
