When dealing with a super jumper:
-Sprint directly at them as soon as they jump. This tactic offsets their aim. It works well against Core Locus, RE, MD, PLC, and FP users.
-Do not shoot jumpers when they ascend. You are more likely to waste your bullets. Instead, wait for them to reach the peak of their jump and track them as they slowly descend.
-Use a Breach Scrambler Pistol. Jumpers lack tank. Three to four shots is all you'll need. The BrScP hits hard, has range, and can be spammed moreso than a BP.
-Learn to predict landing locations. Haphazardly firing automatic weapons will only work to an extent. Trace their fall trajectory and unload your clip when they touch ground.
-Stop strafing. Little side to side movements will do you no good. Instead, make long strides in a single direction. |

I have found the time it takes a jumper to jump and land is almost always the perfect amount of time to cook a core nade and toss it where they will land. This almost always solves the problem.
I have actually tossed core nades up at some super jumpers and it is funny to watch them die mid air.
The only real truth in history is that it was bloody.

Uhum... Not bad. But my tactic is a bit different. Too many jumper in a game? Find a good spot and snipe all of them till theirs body fall to the ground. |

I personally use the Mass Driver to combat jumpers.
Yeah, a little more complex, as it requires figuring out two parabolic trajectories and figuring out two landing spots, and making sure things line up such that your MD round lands at the feet of the jumper.
Fun, fun.
Also, on my MD jump suit, I find that people that: are patient and carefully place bullets into me when I reach the ground ---and--- run/sprint towards me, and even under me...
...all tend to win the engagement.
And the thing is, those competent people are probably not inclined to btch about myos to their squadmates or on the forums. They probably enjoy the relatively easy +50.
I am a minotaur.

Or, get CCP and Ratardi to stop turning the game into Quake Arena and get rid of this stupid new mechanic that dipsh*ts suggested and Rat kissed their as*es and put it in the game.
No reason for this to have ever existed AT ALL!
Stupider and stupider down the rabbit hole we go.
Death is a serious business. So is running a shoddy, half-baked game company.

I have sniped a jumper myself, loved it.
Yes straffing does not work most of the time against jumpers, cause you move far too slowly, you need long strides and change direction every second, not every 0.4 seconds. Learn to predict there jumping parabolic movement, remember that they loose 50hp after every jump usually. the magsec smg has good hipfire accuracy that works well at 20m-30m engagements. the AR and ASCR and TAR and ACR are ok but they are user friendly at a much shorter hipfire range. that range is different for each weapon.
use 1 dampener, they probably wont scan you with there passive scans, if you act like a scout but you use a assault suit with 1 dampener and a rifle.
even adv active scanners with rifles might work because they will usually armor tank with little reps and dampening. |

I won't lie, when the jumping first started I couldn't stand it and considered joining in on the QQ threads. That was the first day though, so everyone was trying them out and the jumpers were EVERYWHERE. Since then it's settled down considerably and I see super jumps far less often.
And I've gotten somewhat used to it. Naturally, there have been some wrinkles in terms of scenarios likely to appear in play I'm learning to deal with. Every now and then getting the jump on some guy in CQC only for him to disappear from my line of sight in an instant. That's definitely annoying but not game-breaking. And having to rethink common map use, travel patterns and cover has been a small challenge. A solvable challenge, so no complaint there. We've all noticed the slight uptick in PLC use but it's hard to hit with in any case, not to mention I get a good laugh when someone kills me with one anyway. I'll brush that off. I've also seen more Mass Drivers and Flaylocks than before but I dont feel like their associated playstyles are all that different (nor the outcome of my encounters with you clowns that use them: usually my death).
All things considered? I don't have much of problem with it. The jumps could definely be toned down some, but after you get over the initial surprise the jumpers are easy to kill with all of the shields they give up for it. Unless they have awesome gun game, in which case, was I really going to kill you anyway? |
