So we currently have a hmg, a burst hmg, and an assault hmg.
The first to act as they should.
The assault acts like a breach. I believe it should get a range nerf and be renamed the breach hmg.
Now we can begin freshly on a new improved assault hmg.
"New" assault hmg.
Rof- 3500. (Faster than normal and breach, slower than burst) Damage-15 (more than old assault hmg) Clip-500 (most of all hmgs) Overheat-18 (more than hmg [15])
Less damage than hmg, faster than hmg, overheats faster, has more ammo, MORE RANGE than current "assault hmg"
This would be an improved assault hmg, better at cqc than the old one while not better than te normal hmg, more range and ammo for attacking objectives/suppressing enemies(like it should be) all controlled by a higher over heat to keep it from being op.

Yeah... no.
The HMG is poorly designed and generally ridiculous. making more of them poorly designed and generally ridiculous is a dumb idea.

I disagree that the HMG is poorly designed. I do agree that following the current mold of HMG design is not helpful and that the original post really does nothing to add to the game.
Just give us different heavy weapons already. |

The only problem with the HMG is that the heavy suit is effectively made a power weapon without drawback.
The drawback is supposed to be difficulty in positioning due to garbage movement and limited range, but the games poor whack-a-mole spawn mechanics nullify that drawback as you can spawn right into the middle of any conflict -- where you are the strongest.
Nerf force projection and the heavy won't bother anyone.
And if they require someone else to drive them, hey... standard dropship pilots can actually do the transport thing.
Usually banned for being too awesome.

You could delete the HMG from existence tomorrow and the only thing that would change is fatties swap to the ACR. I tested it too on a couple proto sentinel suits. It's actually easier to fight with than the HMG. Net change to meta: zero.
How does the heavy get to CQC? From the spawn mechanics.
Derp.
Also, heavy with ACR is a joke. Heavy with anything that isn't an HMG is a joke. Strafe endures more incoming damage than raw HP ever will.
Your test monkeys were stupid publings that don't know how to strafe. True story.
