It is not the idea of high jumps in gameplay that bothers me. Tribes and other FPS' have had jumpy combat before and they did fine. Crazy low gravity chaos can be exhilarating and fun! Want to know how I know? Because games like Tribes, CoD: Advanced Warfare, and Borderlands have those mechanics (and typically better mechanics, I might add). Is that the new vision for Dust 514? Mimic others game's gimmicks?
I like it when Dust 514 tries to take itself seriously. Let Borderlands and Team Fortress be the tongue-in-cheek #LOLNOFALLDAMAGE #ROCKETJUMPFTW games, please. Keep Dust gritty, heavy, grounded, and stern.
Sadly, I get the feeling that is no longer the case. As much as CCP Rattati has improved balance his fundamental vision for Dust is a great deal different than mine. It is a vision without New Eden's influences, setting, and tone. Unfortunately, the New Eden setting and tone are what I find appealing in Dust 514. Slowly, I feel this game becoming less and less set in New Eden. The warbarge being handed to us without any effort or cost involved was the first hint. As nice as it is to be able to clean out my assets, the NPC market was the second indicator. Now with the lazily done myofib jumping.
Somehow I think this new vision for Dust 514 is tied to making it easier to market and those generate aurum sales... but that's a topic for another thread.
It is because of this that I think I will take a break from Dust 514. I will not be biomassing, just setting Dust aside and opting not to fund it for the time being. I will probably continue to lurk the forums hoping to see CCP Rattati post about the mylolfly stims being toned down. In the mean time, feel free to add me on Steam if you want to keep in touch:

An active piece of equipment would have made more sense within the context of the universe. I imagine a piece of man-portable propulsion equipment similar to what is used on ships in Eve. Some players with more background in New Eden lore can help me on this, but aren't Gallente ships powered with plasma thrusters? The Gallente only have one piece of equipment right now so give them this one.
Activate the module and for X seconds (determined by tier) you gain crazy high jumps and falling damage is severly reduced. Holding down the X button in flight could allow you to briefly hover.
"But Ripley they have such a small team in Shanghai! The myofib module is easy to implement and this active module is haaaaaard!
" Reminds me of a quote...
Quote:All good is hard, all evil is easy. Dying, losing, cheating, and mediocrity is easy. Stay away from easy.
If CCP Shanghai can't implement something correctly, like verticality, then they should not roll it out.
