CELESTA AUNGM wrote: Well, after playing in the new Echo release for one night, I knew THIS was going to be the one topic that would catch fire on the Forurm. This M-fibril mechanic is something I don't use on my character, so my reactions to it are only based on observations of the OTHER players I saw using it that night: I saw two players use their new jumps to take up sniper positions on buildings that were nearer the Objectives, so they could be more effective snipers. I saw two players use the feature as a new "vertical strafe exploit", where it was impossible for the medium-range opponent to keep a clear line of fire on a target who hops faster than the vertical-response of your controller. I had one player hack an exterior Null panel, then rise straight up as if by cat-burgler's helicopter cable, and she never came back down. The feature allows you to completely avoid being engaged. I saw one player give up running around the map completely, and pogo-stick her way toward the objective for as long as the M-fibril allows---as a less-counterable means of travel. It looked as comical and outlandish as the speedy-HAV and the speedy-Scout issues we had. On the plus: It clearly gives players the opportunity to perch their weaponry/equipment on highground-advantage perches, arguably "at whim", without having to seek the dropship or jumping-LAV assistance that (unfortunately) many players aren't very good at arranging with fellow Dust players. On the negative: This kind of works AGAINST Dust devs' increasing desire to convince/inspire players to coordinate and successfully get assistance from one another as an effective and rewarded strategy for beating the opposition in a match. On the plus: It removes the advantages that wise players used against opponents,GǪ the advantage of using terrain limitations and hilly topography to outmanuver an enemy or cover avenues of approach around the map. On the negative: This attacks the purpose of having maps with TERRAIN. Terrain and hills are part of the important challenge of "controlling access around the map", which is arguably what enables us to get each MCC destroyed. As some people have already posted, there's no advantage to making the maps "essentially flat", by giving free open access to anyone who wants to wear moonboots. On the plus, it adds a new component of "fun" to those players who may not really have any strategic use for the M-fibril boost, and are just looking to increase their "pleasure" in playing a game. One the negative, in a videogame that has you interacting with other human players, "fun" and "pleasure" differs with motives, so game designerss need to be careful about what kind of "fun" they are opening their game to. The kind of fun that impedes and alienates too many other players? No matter what cool new features the majority of us would enjoy and probably use effectively, there's always among us a risky amount of players who don't care that this is Dust, or it's CoD, or it's video Monopoly. They play it because they want to find SOME method of obstructing the gameplay and disrupting the general population's experience. This is THEIR "fun". Like the cloak, this is just another "fun" feature that CCP will need to monitor aggressively. We're going to have some considerably bad experiences soon. wow, dude well said! |

It's really something I'm thinking is a more "negative" than positive: terrain works more against non~users than it does users as if you're able to jump onto different floors and on roofs where as a pursuer who lacks them has to chase you by going into a building, they're already at a disadvantage.
It also gives changes aoe damage dynamics in the game: wpns who's proximity damage could also kill its user now allow a player to effectively shoot and jump away ignoring proximity damage while inflicting a high damage lvl. Used to be able to, if desperate, run right up front to a mass driver user and if you were both low on the HP you're both dead pretty much.
The worse observation is myso users pogo~sticking around but never going into places that limit movement: dom maps that still require some sort of chamber is a "no~no" and every pogo user just sits outside because their aoe damage is less accurate and difficult to manage with a heavy and locus grenades flying in your direction if your head pops itself just enough.
I agree that vehicle dominance seems to be the biggest deciding factor in the game; installations including railguns are still only effective against players who skilled into them lightly. The serious maddy pilots are never a threat unless enough a/v or another vehicle is in play.
What makes the myos the problem in game dynamics are their usage and pairing with aoe's: aoe's are essentially an area controlling weapon where if you want an enemy out of an area you bombard it and, likewise, keep bombarding it keep them out once they leave. Unlike all other traditional fire arms you don't have to be accurate either, it's an aoe and if they're taking cover and the wall happens to not be high enough then most coverage is negated by either being able to jump up and shoot at your peak or right next to them.
This is probably the biggest grip of most players, it gives myo's and aoe's wpn users an advantage not possible in an other situation and why most users have come to rely on flaylocks now versus the past. If you're saying you're not skilled enough to make precision shots to kill someone using myo's and that's why you hate them then it's equally true to say that you're using mass drivers and flaylocks because you actually suck at shooting precision and need an aoe wpn to kill someone off because it doesn't have to be accurate at all. |

Man since the new update, I see people literally flying... Since when is flying without using a plane allowed in war? I know this is a futuristic game, but no matter how evolved it is, the basics are the heart of everything. Back in time, unless using a plane, soldiers couldn't fly. Why change the heart of something? Why change the basics of war?
Take these deaths as a lesson.

The only problems that I have is that Myo's should be more taxing on a fit in terms of CPU / PG because it's now clearly the most used mod in terms of bio mods ... the CPU / PG should be more then using kinkats because by far it's offering more viable effects in terms of melee and jumping abilities which is more then any other bio mod which " normally " offers just one factor , Myo's offer multiple and bring a vast dynamic that no other mods in the infantry can / do .
It's just lazy to not have a stacking penalty ( if it's bugged it needs to be fixed ) and just have a limit of three being placed on a individual .
When are the tweaks coming ???
Is this going to be ignored and chalked up as " working as intended " ?
It's the biggest issue , even more then performance issues ( which is sad ) and again , another installation with no thoughts as to the effects that it will have in the current fragile structure as it is .
The problem that I have is what's spoken of and the thoughtlessness of not installing checks and balances in regards of such .
Doubts are like flies and should be treated as such and crushed .

Using myo`s I recently discovered the pros and cons of the Flaylock. When above your opponent the flaylock is an impressive weapon however on level ground the thing seems to really struggle to splash opponents.

I use to have mine maxed , I would have to lead or shoot behind for the splash to be effective , it was funny because I use to hit people on a regular with that gun and found it quite effective .
I just like the magsec more .
I love the flaylock though .
It's far better then it has been , I'm sure you would agree .

I think it's funny, but I do see the tactical advantage to super jumping. However, it does not replace straffing. It adds its own value and problems to the game, and so it should stay. I was speccing into this, but more for melee damage. I want to be like Brick from Borderlands, but this is like a fun bonus!
If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck...

I just think the buff is on the wrong item. Put the 'sweet jumps' on kin cats. And use a charge-stamina consumption mechanic to control the strength of the jump. Give myos, a recoil reduction buff instead.
But hey, otherwise Idgas.

Kain Spero wrote:Speaking of starer fits though I think CCP should modify or make a starter suit that focuses on using myofibs. Better to introduce players to the tactic early on . Hopefully they adjust the melee damage modifiers on the STD and ADV modules. Right now the difference between those and PRO makes them pretty much worthless by comparison.

This has happened already, they have a starter fit with a myofib kincat and prci enh. It also carries SG and knives. Pretty much a med frame modded into scout territory... It's called Recon.
