This happens to me regularly even in school. It's also a gateway to Astral Projection. I've done it. The body or brain forgets to shut off the chemical that doesn't allow us to act out our dreams.

It is, if someone tries to wake you up and you don't move they may feel you're dead.

I just had a discussion with my mom and well here are the results.
I told my mom is she saw the black figures while not being able to move.
Her response was " yes I've had these experiences but they don't occur often its just at random."
I said "wow I never knew. What about your sisters have they had these experiences?"
My mom said " yes my youngest sister she has them often while the other two sisters rarely happens to them"
I'm like "wow"
I say " What about dad?"
She said "yes it has happen to him but recently 4 months ago he flipped out because he had a nightmare that he saw your little brother dead in a dream that he woke up and prayed"
I'm like O_O
What about your dad ?
She said "ahh yes my dad to but he was very afraid so if he saw a frog = Boom became scared"
My dad is busy now so Later I'll talk to him.
I think Dust 514 should be called Sleep Paralysis 514 or Shadow Figure 514 lol.
Keep the comments folks because I'll be doing a commentary about this, this Friday and I'll include everyones comments in the video.
Have a nice day :)

Yep I get these pretty regularly and have been for over 10 years. At first it's pretty scary but I got used to it. Sadly, recently they have been getting worse in terms of what I hallucinate and I have even started feeling physical pain. Most recently I hallucinated that someone (something) was driving spikes into my side and when I tried to scream from the pain it started laughing at me.... Not fun at all.
Some people like these experiences but I doubt they've seen the **** I have. There is apparently ways of actively trying to do it, but I wouldn't recommend it lol. I found sleeping on your back triggers it more often. |

I tend to sleep on my right side or my left and from my experience is if I face the wall = No = Bad. But if I face the other side = Yes = I have an advantage.
One thing that missed in the OP was that during the 2nd time the figure started to come near the bed that I heard the bed squeak = O_O It got closer and closer that the "Thing" was about to take my teddy bare and in my mind I said "No ****** you ain't taking my bear with you" Then he left it right where he was and his hand came crawling under the blanket = o_o and the other hand straight to my face = O_O I did my best to move my arms that I actually moved them and said "**** you big boy" then the thing left and I was like "woah @_@"
Then I went asleep and woke up and said "what the beep happen at night o_0" It took my a while to remember everything.

I believe medically speaking it shouldn't matter what side you sleep on as they are triggered by your airway being partly blocked off (this happens when you sleep on your back). Actually there is no guarantee that you'll know how you are sleeping because everything you see is in your imagination. Your eyes are actually shut when it happens and you can't physically make a sound. It's just you and whatever your brain decides to cook up.
It's definitely not cool when the intruders start messing with you, glad to hear you managed to find it off this time. |

Sleep paralysis, lucid dreaming and things of that nature are caused by the blurring of the subconscious and conscious mind, basically trying to force dominance in your sleeping state. In reality your are neither asleep nor awake its both types of brainwave patterns being active at once. The superstitious belief that you are being tormented by something otherworldly comes from your subconscious mind taking a bit of precedence, also commonly known as a waking nightmare. I suffer from several sleep disorders, which I alleviate whenever possible by drinking until I pass out, lol. But since I work so much, I usually just lay in bed fighting sleep and suffering.
Or not, I don't fully place my belief in science nor religious explanations as in many cases both are just a way for us to rationalize things our brains are incapable of processing, which I also believe is necessary for us to remain partially sane.
ps. Sorry if someone already touched on this in depth it's a hobby of mine since I have been a sufferer for a few years.

Falling asleep on my back tends to trigger these experiences for me as well, it is partial sleep apnea, the obstruction of air to your brain disrupts your r.e.m sleep and disruption of your sleep cycle triggers the hallucinations. It is routinely not fun, and worsens as your apprehension towards sleep heightens, sort of compounding your own issue. I actually had 3 mean ones last night and only managed to sleep for an hour or so because of it.
edit: the act of triggering it yourself is called lucid dreaming, but it is supposed to be able to be done during pleasant dreams as well. Also commonly referred to in spiritualist circles as astral projection.

my "sleep paralysis" seems to be able to affect whoever I fall in love with too. Some times I get a call in the middle of the night asking me to come over. Once it was from a girl I hadn't seen in ten years. How'd she even get my number? I have a rational mind and don't argue with people's explanations. It's when the demon exist in my waking hours that I have real trouble accepting. Or when it messes with animals or people around me. Confronting it drives it off but I feel responsible for the next poor soul who inherits it. I'm a sap for a damsel in distress so I usually end up "carrying" the damned thing around.

I was being held captive one night. I thought I fought the thing off. I heard knocking on my door. I just hid.
The next day at work I learned that my friend had stopped by. It was her knocking. She knows my door is always open but she didn't come in. She said there was a little spirit man pacing in my kitchen. I thanked her for easing my torment. She never stopped by after that though.

Iv had this. You need to see a sleep doc =ƒÿå.
Your brain might is not blocking off the sleep section and the im awake bit. Either through a lack of right chemical vs damage of some kind.
So what's happening is the bit of the brain that turns on to stop you moving about is perfectly fine and health...which is why ya can't move but the bit that goes ok real world off dream world on. Is damaged in some fashion. So you effective perfectly awake and dreaming at the same time.

Nah, I used to be into lucid dreams and have them pretty frequently but I never got to experience sleep paralysis unfortunately. It's mainly associated with WILDs and I could never do those. They sound pretty cool though. They only get really horrific if you freak out and panic.
