I skilled into ADS recently and I'm enjoying the pain, but I need some help with my fittings. On my Python, I'm using a Heavy Shield Extender, a Light Shield Booster, and an Afterburner in my high slots. In my low slots... I think ammo. I'm using missile turrets. Considering that all my mods are MLT, is this a good fit? How could I improve it? Thanks o7

A Hardener would be better than an ab in areas with lots of cover.
Might not be able to fit at mlt tho

Really? I'd always heard that an Afterburner was a must on a Python...?

Id' recommend saving your ISKies until you've got at least enhanced vehicle modules all around (well, a basic AB is actually preferable, IMO). When I get in an ADS, I'm already expecting to lose it, and would do so much sooner if I wasn't rocking enhanced/complex everything.
Also, IMO, since flying ADS requires a lot of focus anyway, avoiding active modules is choice. Too many times have I had the right control stick off by a couple degrees and selected the hardener instead of the AB and *POOF* no more ADS. My strategy is pumping my passive defense as high as possible (ie, lots of shield extenders for the Python) and letting reps/speed take care of the rest.
There are a few pilots that are insanely good (as in, "WTF--did he just kill me with a missile through a window?!?!?!"), but I think for most, including myself, it's just a really expensive hit-and-run platform, in the air. |

If you stay mobile you can get by without an AB. But watch out to always maintain some minimum altitude so you can quickly accelerate while dropping height should the need arise. |

In your low slot it is a complex PG expander and nothing else.
You need to fit the best tank to survive, you can drop the complex ext for an enhanced and upgrade the booster or hardener.
The AB it is a must, i have tried fits without an AB and swarms will outright kill you if you do not run, don't worry about a FG they can aim. |

I usually slap on double hardeners and an extender because I assume I'll be going up against 2 Swarm Launchers and a forger. With 2500 shields, I can swing by an AV area for a hit and run. I can usually escape with about 1000 shields left or a little less.
Don't listen to me though, I'm pretty sure double hardeners are frowned upon with no exceptions.

If rattati gets his way you won't be able to run 2 hardeners and if you want that complex PG expansion unit i hope you have 190CPU spare because if not you can't use it. |

I tried using an extender, booster, and a hardener today, and it seemed to work ok... Question though: If I had all relevant skills maxed, if I put two hardeners on my Python, if I alternated them, could I stay hardened forever?

I skilled into ADS recently myself, and I am enjoying the incubus more than the python. ABs get you out of dodge fast enough to avoid losing too much armor, and reps will have that armor back before the AB cools off. |

no not anymore. much more effective to use the hardener fly in the hot zone kill some people then as AV is hitting you fly away and hit the booster.

Also, how should I use the booster and hardeners? I had imagined that after I get hit once whilst I wasn't expecting it, I should use the booster, then immediately activate the hardener. Is this a good tactic? How else should I be using these modules?

Take that first hit then activate your hardener and depending if your almost out of shields then hit your booster because you never know if you moved out of the line of sight of that AV user.
