Good day! I'm just here to chew the fat since I can only Dust once or twice a week right now. I will give you some background and let you all take shots from there. This is my main char and his stats are as follows
43mil sp All core skills maxed, including scanning passives All modules maxed with the exception of shields (all 3), stamina and myofib All Gal suits proto plus min assault 4 Ar, Cr, Md, Scr, Hmg, Forge, Swarms, Smg, Scp, and Iop 5 with most side skills to 3 at least No weapons under 3 No vehicle skills All equip at 3 or 4 save for the cloak, and Scanners 5
I have maintained a 1.8 KDR since...as far back as I can remember, but can't quite break into full fledged slayer territory, what am I missing? Is my logi brain holding me back? Helping/Saving teammates, offering cover fire, and even sponging some hits for a low hp teammate are always on my mind. How do real killers roll? What is the though process, movement game, positional thinking?
I'm seriously thinking of letting my KD suffer and practicing shooting and only shooting for a few weeks.
Mark a$$ tricks, and bags of dicks....

tbh I just shoot **** and +50.
If you want to learn to be a good slayer, stay out of ambush and play Skirm/Dom. Never stop pushing objectives and it'll eventually come.
Most of the people who play Ambush just sit on top of their five friends, as a result they rarely die. However these players can't win a 1v1 to save their ass.

Hire a proto logi to be your friend and get in that Gk.0 with an HMG
Make sure it's a good Min logi, with some precision enhancers stacked and a republic boundless rep tool so you can wade out into the storm of bullets 30 meters deep ;D

Just play it cool. If you are trying to improve your k/d having less deaths is the key. 7/0 is better than 20/6. At 100K kills it takes a few days to go up 0.01.
It only takes a few poor choices to drop that 0.01. |

I've tested both. For me to put a profile dampener on assault is just f****** good 30dB with a complex (+ passive)
A precision enhancer is good too, mainly for the Amarr and the Gallente, because put only damager is useless
Ho and what have you written ? rangenamp ? Does this mod still exist ?
CCP has nerfed this mod too much.... It's useless now
I'm sorry for my bad English writting and comprehension.

You have to be fast, react fast, make decissions fast but all this with mind. Don't chase reds for kills if you don't know what's over there [nobody scaned that place].
Play aggressively. Learn how to throw cooked grenades. Strafe in cqc. Your aim have to be good at least.
Flank as much as possible.
In conclusion. If you want to be a slayer, a good one then practise on your own. Play solo, test your fits, adapt to whole slayer thing. Running with rep logis and other stompers will make you bad in 1v1, 1v2, 1v3 situations. So go make few fits and play. Push and flank with mind. Tactic etc will come later.
Ps. Kd/r in Dust doesn't mean anything. Your score during battle is what matters. Also remember that going 20/5 is better than 10/0. Don't camp, just go there and kill as many as you can. Ofc dying too many times is bad but if you will make it up with kills then you can die more.

all ways give yourself the tactical advantage over your enemy. the key is to see them before they see you by predicting where the enemy is going to move to. before you engage your enemy make sure you have cover. a good slayer all ways flanks while the bluedots and reddots are engageing head up. once your gun game gets to the point where you can win all your 1v1 engagements then start to fit your dropsuit for high regen to move to the next engagement faster with full HP. and become a master of the headshot to down a opponent fast. get the most damage out of your weapon as possible by completely maxing it out. don't stack heavy armor plates even on a heavy suit to maintain good strafeing abilities. gunfights in dust are more about dodging enemy fire then any other FPS game so learn to circle strafe and random jump reload.

Most of the people who play Ambush just sit on top of their five friends, as a result they rarely die. However these players can't win a 1v1 to save their ass. Have to second this - skirmish/pushing objectives is a great general training program for DUST. It exposes you to most of the systems and a lot of the tricks peeps use. There's nothing like trying to single-handed take an objective from a squad to make you think about how you're doing things.
Trying(unsuccessfully, in my case) to carry a weak team against competent squads is brutal training but great experience. If you stick with STD weapons whenever possible it teaches you to be quick on the draw and forces accuracy/positional awareness.
Trying to play superman will kick your KDR in the nuts, especially if you typically run solo, but as you go you should see your new skills reflected in a gradually rising win/loss ratio(would be great if we had a week-by-week historical graph of this in our character sheets).
Caveat emptor, though: i'm a long way from being a real slayer but i can say that the skim/win method has improved my game a lot.
The next step in training oneself up would be: don't die.
It sounds simple and facetious but aiming for zero deaths also has a lot to teach a merc. Can't vouch as much for this as it's really stage two in my personal training plan. I suppose stage three would be 'don't die in STD gear'.

Slaying ability is MOSTLY independent of SP.
Ignore suits and Sp for this post. Those come AFTER learning whats commonly called "Gungame"
I've always wanted to make a Dust514 video for whats below, but I have no recording software.
Instead, I'm going to type up a large post to GD explaining how to gungame. I'll post a link here later.

The best way to improve K/D is to reduce your deaths. Make sure that you only engage when you are sure you will win. Be completely selfish and let blues die before you. Thirdly, completely flip out after every death.

Range amp is crap now, they nerfed it to 25%... assualt range is like what 10m? Thats an extra 2.5m per amp... damn why they did that though?
Also to OP. use OP weapons with OP suits. Have a logi with you at all times, and tank the **** out of your suit... Thats what i see everyone doing now a days |

Thanks much Ghost. As a recognizable vet who I raise eyebrows at the times I have seen you around (musturd I'm talking to you ) I appreciate the advice. @Leadfoot yes my gun game is lacking, I try to compensate with smart decision that allow me the advantage of winning a fight, low hp, unaware or distracted enemies, 2v1 kill steals etc. But I definitely want to up my raw killing.
