They aren't pointless. They mean something to the people in them and they tend to be what ties players together with a specific purpose.
But I suppose that is somewhat dependent on the corp and the player themselves.

No we are not, applications are more that welcome though we have slightly different recruitment specifications than other corporation in that we do not base acceptance off of statistics.
However we expect out members to abide by the rules of the corporations without exception. Our corporation only uses Amarrian technology where possible, only fights for the Amarr in Factional Warfare, and role plays as soldiers of the Amarr.

Maybe you don't know but all people don't look for a corporation for playing at this game. I don't want a corporation. I would like to play at dust like Eve.
I build myself my ships, all my fregates until my capitals ships, and for me , autarky is the ideal I search.
But in Dust, I do not like to depend on 15 players in public contracts for making a victory and when I face Corporations squads, I consider that the balance in each camp is broken. Independence has a price, but should be possible.
So please stop your hypocrisy like what you would not be responsible for the desertification of the game. Nothing should force players to have to play in a corporation to find pleasure in this game in public contract. Faction contracts and corporations are open to cooperation but everyone should be able to find pleasure in public contracts. To ensure easy victories for you, you form squads where you know you have very little chance to see a team against you. A squad of 6 players equals 12 players without squads and you know and you are proud in your chat channels when you crush the poor beginners
Anyway, it is true that you are not alone responsible for this . But keep your **** ideal for you, they are completely wrong.
Cool your jets mate. It's absolutely fine you have your own opinion and I can respect that but no need to get antagonistic about the topic at hand.
We just differ fundamentally on how we approach the game. You might seek to do everything yourself to be self reliant and see that as the ideal means of operation within New Eden which in its own right is respectable.
Gaming to me is just simply more enjoyable when you have friends to work with and laugh with when something funny happens.

And I know what I mean. Independence will always offer you an alternative solution and prosperity in New Eden.
If such a time comes that I am not fit to serve the Empire then I will have to accept that what I have given PIE Inc and PCLAS is the best I had to offer.
Not only that but I'm actually kind of proud to be in PIE, we do good work, I'm now part of 10 years of corporate history, and the people I've met doing all that are all very pleasant.
