They aren't pointless. They mean something to the people in them and they tend to be what ties players together with a specific purpose.
But I suppose that is somewhat dependent on the corp and the player themselves.

I happen to like playing solo but going out there with a couple of friends from your corp is really fun and refreshing too, besides, turning the tides of battle can't be done alone most of the time, especially in this game

Corps that participate in PC aren't pointless as a team of players will have a much easier time deploying into them if they're in the same corp, as they can access the battles directly instead of relying on a ferry.
Corps that don't however, are pointless in every aspect because besides taxes (which doesn't benefit players anyways unless the corp plays PC), anything they do can be done with a Public Channel.

No we are not, applications are more that welcome though we have slightly different recruitment specifications than other corporation in that we do not base acceptance off of statistics.
However we expect out members to abide by the rules of the corporations without exception. Our corporation only uses Amarrian technology where possible, only fights for the Amarr in Factional Warfare, and role plays as soldiers of the Amarr.

I completely agree with True Adamance.
In my opinion, the community side of this game has been forgotten by too much people on dust. Back in the day people were proud of their corporations and tags. Now they are changing like they would with a pair of sockets.
A corporation need one hell of a leader who know more or less where he want to go. The last corporation I saw trying to progress and evolve was Dead Man's Game. They started with a single district and the will to grow. And now they are one of the best EU corporation...
Why do you think that at some point, squad have gone from 4 players to 6 ? One of the argument was because it would allow players within a corporation to meet more regularly. As 4 mans squads were limiting the occasion to talk to each others. Now you want them to return to 4 because in the majority, the forum whinners are solo players... But no one has ever stopped any of you to create a corporation to counter the "stompers". But of course, that would need work from you guys and not from CCP.
Nowadays I see almost every day complaint about my corp, and guess what ? I don't care and no one here don't care. Simply because being in prima is like to be in a family. I crossed 1000km to see my corpmates irl last september. Last week, I even celebrated my second year in prima. I don't say it's the way every corp should go. I just say it is how I see a corporations
The same thing could be said about Kill Em Quick or Molon Labe. For what I know they have been here from the begenning and nowadays, they still exist and are among the best corporations.
There are plenty of people who want to play in corporations (given the number of apply we reject every day). The problem is for them to find a place where they can be accepted. I would be more than happy to redirect those people to anyone that is willing to create a corporation.

Corps add an extra dimension to the game more than just a meeting place. In my corp we have various directors. We meet (albeit informally) and decide the direction we want to take the corp to. For example, we incremented the number of tax free days from 1 to 2 and decided to reimburse some tanks and ads to members who do a good job in PC battles. We evaluate our players and support allies in their battles. You couldn't get this kind of thing as a solo player. To us Dust is not a shooting game where you get to hang out with some folks. It is a hangout where you get to shoot other players. |

Maybe you don't know but all people don't look for a corporation for playing at this game. I don't want a corporation. I would like to play at dust like Eve.
I build myself my ships, all my fregates until my capitals ships, and for me , autarky is the ideal I search.
But in Dust, I do not like to depend on 15 players in public contracts for making a victory and when I face Corporations squads, I consider that the balance in each camp is broken. Independence has a price, but should be possible.
So please stop your hypocrisy like what you would not be responsible for the desertification of the game. Nothing should force players to have to play in a corporation to find pleasure in this game in public contract. Faction contracts and corporations are open to cooperation but everyone should be able to find pleasure in public contracts. To ensure easy victories for you, you form squads where you know you have very little chance to see a team against you. A squad of 6 players equals 12 players without squads and you know and you are proud in your chat channels when you crush the poor beginners
Anyway, it is true that you are not alone responsible for this . But keep your **** ideal for you, they are completely wrong. |

Cool your jets mate. It's absolutely fine you have your own opinion and I can respect that but no need to get antagonistic about the topic at hand.
We just differ fundamentally on how we approach the game. You might seek to do everything yourself to be self reliant and see that as the ideal means of operation within New Eden which in its own right is respectable.
Gaming to me is just simply more enjoyable when you have friends to work with and laugh with when something funny happens.

Corp taxes can help other than PC. This is very narrow minded of you. Corps can participate in FW as a team and might use the corp tax to help offset the losses in FW, or even in public matches when running as a corp (as my corp does).

Agreed - being proud of your team goes a long way for some people. While I am often a loner, I will often try harder when I'm in a squad with my corp as when we are together, if I don't do well it reflects poorly on us as a team, not just on myself.

If such a time comes that I am not fit to serve the Empire then I will have to accept that what I have given PIE Inc and PCLAS is the best I had to offer.
Not only that but I'm actually kind of proud to be in PIE, we do good work, I'm now part of 10 years of corporate history, and the people I've met doing all that are all very pleasant.
