I pledged for SC a while back, and have one of the sub 100Gé¼ game packages. My rig is one graphics update away from giving me reasonable frame rates (PhenomX6 1055 T with a HD 5750 GPU gives me barely playable framerates on lowest setting in 1920x1080).
Anyway, this game has so much potential, and it's programmed to grow from the start, by a very dedicated developer team and a very good community team. SC might not live to all expectations, but it will have loads of content to explore and not just a text adventure with shiny graphics like eve has (pve).
The PVP part will probably be not any less fascinating as EVE, but without a big portion of the griefing that many in EVE love but many more hate beyond anything. F'or me that sounds very promising, and I'd be willing to dump some money in my rig to play that.
If I have to move to a PC to play DUST or legion, I don't know why I shouldn't play SC instead...?
ON PS4 Dust Legion would be unique, on PC the competition by SC is very big, maybe insurmountable...
I believe that Dust has potential, but only if the NPE is the main focus to bring player count up. It doesn't matter if CCP is making new shiny for the vets, since with no new players seeing a reason to stick to the game, even the vets will get bored to play the same guys in pc over and over again... Dust needs more players period!
Give them the drone infestation PVE, that was promised ages ago, like in EVE we need PVE for newer players to train their skill!
Otherwise this game won't move on, you can't just milk the same small amount of players over and over again... |

In my opinion, the NPE is the biggest problem of DUST right now. The newbs get slaughtered when they come out of academy and most only can handle so much, and finally just leave the game.
IN EVE you can fly around for years without having too much trouble with vets stomping you into oblivion. So you can build up skills and adapt to the game. Dust is not like that at all. You get stomped by a much higher skill opponent who plays in packs and uses comms, while you might not have figured out what an uplink is good for, or that shooting the MCC with installations doesn't help your team at all...
This is just pathetic and bad game design by CCP. If they don't change that, DUST won't grow, and it needs to grow, to fund more shiney for the vets to stay interested... |
