So basically, you want to feel like you can actually do something to improve the performance of your war barge, not just sit and watch its timers tick away? +1
Players should be engaged and encouraged to maintain and interact with the War Barge on a daily basis, not just logging in to claim/spend components. I want to feel like I'm actually part of the Warbarge and have what I do affect it.
Also the Weapons Research thing is just silly. All its really doing is producing a strong box that you can unlock with components. Honestly that was the part I was most excited about because I love industry and making things...but in reality is feels more like a slot machine

Like honestly, while Warframe has its problems and I hate a lot its cash shop model, the way it did crafting was nice and simple, and would work for Dust.
Various Components drop during missions.
Components can also be generated passively but have to be collected on a regular basis. (However this is supplemental, majority of components are collected on missions)
Go to the your factory, each weapon/item has a component cost and a build time.
Pick an item to make, spend the components, start the build.
Build time can be reduced with Premium Currency.
Key points to take away?
You make what you want.
You actually have to do work to get most of your components.
AUR can *speed up* production but you can't get the raw materials with AUR.
