Cause I remember that being a major part of the game.
Now and by now, I mean since PC was introduced and exploited) we have squads running full Proto vs teams with mostly newberries. You would think that the other team running full proto and losing would boost the isk gain by a good amount by but it honestly doesn't seem to make a difference.
Games are so unbalanced that even having one full Proto squad(who seem to shrugge off losing ten Proto suits per match like they were front lines) can throw the whole thing off. So much so that one or two people choosing to run Proto is a major blow that results in losing tons of isk.
So what is there to be about this? Is it even on the list?

Being a poor person, I have a solution. Loyalty Store. Both my current Proto fits are mostly Loyalty items. Restocking it costs me 10,000 isk and 1800lps. Much more cost effective!

The balance would be two things.
The first, is p2p trading. Through this, players will be able to make a vast amount of ISK by selling valuble items to others, such as Skill Respecs, SP Boosters, Officer Gear, Blueprints, Warbarge Components, APEX Suits, LP Gear, and maybe even Experimental Weapons once people start paying to get their Experimental Facility.
The second, would be taking the Public Contract players off of welfare and devise a pay system that rewards everyone for performing well without it being dependent on whether or not your enemies feel like taking a risk.

Only a few people made enough ISK off of PC to run proto 24/7 man that currently run it do it because they are good and play as a squad.
of course you are going to get stomped when you solo in a standard suit.

Income inequality is a problem with no easy solution, in both the real world and DUST. Generally the easiest way to improve this disparity is to create arenas if play where veterans with nearly unlimited resources play against one another (PC was intended to be this arena) while keeping public contracts more casual. Ultimately you can't take ISK from the wealthy vets, or give it away to the newberries, so you're forced to balance around money instead of addressing it directly.

Many people run/can run proto 24/7 even if they have 10m,100m,500m isk. It's more about ; will you get back these isk anytime soon?

Actually, i've found it's easier to make isk with a dirt cheap militia light frame and shotgun (I actually use the recruit AR with a minmatar light frame). It has like 200ehp, but it only costs me 3k isk. I can make isk every match with it.

If my fit costs me more than 50k isk then I will lose money in just about every session of play. I can just about make a profit on running ADV suits and gear for around 35k.
This worries me. Because I'm a reasonable player who can regularly place top three in any given pub match (no brag here, I know) and most of that is the result of my 35mil sp carrying me through and smoothing over the cracks of my truly average gun game. I play conservatively, I drop uplinks, I hunt tanks. I can make wp's happen. My KDR is positive much more often than it is negative. I'm reasonably successful as a merc in New Eden.
Point being, I can do all that and I'll still never even touch proto in a serious manner. It would bankrupt me in a month of casual play, and I am by no means destitute currently. Proto gear is simply not a sustainable choice, and I'm actuslly happy with that because that's how it should be; they're the shiny toys you bring out when stuff gets serious. But all the major corps run full proto squads in pubs with total disregard to the loss of isk that they surely must incur. It's unusual for even the best players to lose no suits throughout the course of a match, and by estimation if you lose two fully fitted proto assaults you have blown that match's paycheck and then some. But it happens anyway, day after day.
This is a game that was meant to built around the consequences of your choices and the harsh lessons of your failures. What we actuslly have is an untouchable elite with near limitless resources crushing all opposition without having to worry about any losses incurred to themselves in the process. It's toxic. We need to stop it.

We need to stop it. Very well said. im a miser myself and usually reserve proto for the "just one more" game. Honestly i could afford to run proto and maybe in the end i would break even but old habits die hard. I'm used to saving isk from the old days when 50k fits were sending me to the poorhouse. Plus my proto am assault dies just as fast to a militia shotgun as my 20k std fit

If CCP actually balanced matches..... it would make all the difference in the world.
If this means that to do it in pubs, squad sizes have to change (for pubs) then so be it! Are people really more bothered about being able to stomp noobs than the health and balance aka FUN of the game?

PRO suits don't make nearly as much as a difference as the person who wields them. Never have I thought this to be more true than yesterday, where I faceplanted PRO suits into the dirt with my Quafe Assault.
In any case, I earned my riches through pub matches, you don't need to go through PC to have ridiculous amounts of ISK. At 260mil ISK, losing 10 protosuits doesn't hurt, like at all.

I get fair battles with protosuit vs protosuit and an enemy of decent skill, and then lose 3-6 protosuits, but later I recoup all the losses with 5 complete stomps. It's the power of a squad.

What I would say is that matchmaking should do its best effort to matchmake squads with squads. Those tend to be good battles, and newberries on the side can pick off stragglers while the big boys spend millions of ISK

But a Commando mk.0 with Boundless Specialist Cr and Agimus' Modified MD, with Complex mods? Not overly enjoyable to stomp with.

I happen to agree/disagree to your disagreement. Stomping every 2-3 matches gives me a sense of power....raw power my mercenary has harvested from the brains of blueberries. I can predict their every move (spawn on closest link to A), i know their weakness (frontline suit, weakness: proto suit) and i know how to counter their strength (endless LAV's, call in ion cannon tank)
but for real, stomping feels good. Knifing feels good. Being responsible for the logistics behind you feels good....and holding a point with a logistics by yourself feels even better!
