I just know that CCP is going to do nothing more than make a send to function on items.
The reason this worries me is the fact that we will see newbies getting ISK and valuable items stolen left and right. New player experience is already terrible and this is only going to make it worse.
If CCP wants to keep making money they need new players. If they dont have new players spending will run out eventually no matter how many ridiculous cash grabs they come up with.
To Ratatti and crew:
Do not even bring in simple trading if you can not make the most basic contract system where newbies are protected from out right lies leading too things being stolen. New Eden is meant to be harsh and a contract system still allows for scams and lies on value of items but allowing people to have their things out right stolen is unacceptable. |

"Stolen from" How can player trading allow me to enter a player's warbarge and steal his gear? That's pretty awesome. Why wasn't this in the patch notes?!

He means people being scamed. I think a full trade and sale system is hindered by development limitations. Having a simple "send to" trade system is a step forward. I have a few BPO c-1 i could gift a new player, or some proto gear i havent specced into.

You raise a very valid point though. I have some BPOs that I haven't used in a long time. I would happily gift those to a new corpmate who just started playing Dust. That's actually a positive effect on our NPE.

Saying you are going to send ISK after they send an item and then just disappearing is stealing that players stuff as far as I am concerned. Others may see it different but the simple fact is a simple send to option stands to create a lot of problems for new players and a lot of problems for CCP.
What happens when GMs are getting flooded by newbies trying to get their money or stuff back?
What happens when newbies quit and never have a chance to spend money because the ISK they spent all day grinding to get is all lost because of this lack of ability to make a simple mechanic work as it should?
As long as CCP keeps making this place totally inhospitable for newbies we will just see the cash grabs get worse until the game dies. How many newbies do you think left the game because of the broken mechanic that allowed Duna and others to farm them with nothing they could do about it?
The solution is so simple its ignorant that they do not take the time to do it.
Player A selects an item and hits create contract. He/She then selects the number of that item to include. They then select a requested amount and the contract is set.
Once a player has a contract they can select any player and hit share contract.
Player B receives the notification and can then accept the contract.
The item is moved to their inventory and the ISK is removed from their wallet. If they do not have the funds then they can not accept the contract. |

At the end of the day we all pay for that. Without new players spending money cash grabs are going to get old to the point that people stop feeding them and what happens to Dust then?
I am not saying that simple trading is going to kill Dust, I am saying that this pattern has led to lost revenues, lost players, and a worse over all experience for everyone and needs to change. The only lessons that are going to be leaned in the long run is by CCP for not being willing to spend a few extra man hours to do something right and by us for following along with a company that had not learned that lesson.
Maybe if CCP had thought more about NPE in Eve it would not have taken them so many years to make Eve actually popular.

Probably true thanks to CCPs inability to grasp the basic concept of NPE.

Deezy, I get what you are saying. New Eden's stance on scamming could potentially turn a lot of new players off. You aren't wrong there.
What I'm saying is that in the benefit vs. risk calculation, the addition of this feature will be more of a boon than it will be a bane.
You don't know how many times I wish I could have handed a new guy some stuff I had in my assets. Handing them ISK works, but why do that when I actually have the gear on hand, you know? Plus, imagine how cool it will be to a new player if I run a corp contest and they win a set of BPOs or something? I'm working on such a contest in my corp right now.
Someone is going to get scammed, yes. It will kind of suck for them, yes.
But for every one guy who gets scammed, three will get some cool gear or BPOs that will make them enjoy Dust more.

I totally agree that it would be better to have it sooner than later. I am only arguing that somewhere along the line this pattern of slapping things together with no regard for the destruction it is going to do to NPE has to get broken or the life time of this game is very limited.
Why not take this simple feature and use it as a time to do that?

Why not take this simple feature and use it as a time to do that? Homie, the time this game has is already limited I don't know when it's going to happen, but we are eventually going to make the jump to PC or (less likely) PS4. But I digress...
CCP Rattati seems to be pretty willing to iterate on existing features within reasonable constraints, of course. There isn't anything saying this 'Simple Player Trading' can't become a 'Player Trading - Contracts' later in Warlords 1.2 - 1.4.
Until then, be a part of the solution: educate your new players about scamming and how it is almost completely allowed in New Eden.

Trust me if there was a release date for Legion I would probably have a giant count down clock on my wall.
Obviously the education of new players by the player base will be needed but this only goes so far. |

CCP protects code trades (see the rules in the code bazaar) so you cannot (or rather, will be punished if) be scammed from codes.
As far as scamming people otherwise, that's New Eden life. People can and will screw you over. Happens in Eve all the time. However, Eve has contracts, which basically make it to where the only way items/isk are exchanged are if both parties have put forward the assets. The way scamming works then is people not properly reading the terms of the contract.
For example, let's say I want to buy a BPO from Blueberry for 15 mil. HE creates a contract stating he will give me a Toxin SMG, and I will give him 15 mill ISK. The contract will not go through unless both of us physically possess these assets. So if he doesn't really have the Toxin SMG, the contract will be unable to be completed. Likewise if I don't have the 15 mill ISK.
Now, if one of us doesn't read the terms of the contract properly, scamming can occur. For instance, perhaps he adds an extra zero and makes it 150 mill ISK. I don't read the contract carefully and accept. He successfully scammed me, and CCP will not reimburse me for my loss, nor punish him for the scam.
A system of contracts would greatly assist newberries in protecting their assets (if they pay attention) while still leaving room for white-collar thievery for the more underhanded among us.

And Eve is a different beast. If we had pve and could mine materials then it would be extremely necessary. We honestly don't know how much coding is needed. I read a dev post from bungie where they said they have some bugs buried so deep in the game code its taken them many years to rewrite/fix them. Look at borderlands where you can glitch the game to create duplicate gear. Can you imagine the tournament guys duplicating their balacs ck.0?
