Hey all. I have been discussing some ideas given all of the changes being proposed. I have one of my own and the feed back from other fcs has all been in support.
When we field command a battle. We are making a lot of very fast paced decisions. To make those decisions I always find myself either hiding in a corner on the map screen. Or dead and waiting longer to re spawn so I can check out what's happening on the map.
After all. It's our job to command the bigger picture not just the area we are standing in.
This is the huge concern of all FCS. Knowing at all times where your players are without cluttering comms asking....who's that on Bravo. Or who the heck is that spinning circles in the MCC
My proposal would be a simple solution. Can you please add a number to people's dots on the mini map and the large map. And with that on the side a legend of the map. With people's names beside numbers.
That way the fc has total command and control. And we all have players who listen on mic. But chose not to speak. Somone we only know they in the game because of the kill feed. This will help us follow up on their compliance with orders.
Another option. Can we have a zoom in and out of our mini map. So I don't always have to go look at the detailed map.
I always get killed on that map screen lol.
those are my short term simple solutions to command and control.
Long term. I would love to add a 17th member to the planetary conquest mode. The commander. He isn't on the ground. He is in the mcc. He has total birds eye view and an extended zoom.
He can give squad objective points...and team objective points. He can see all squads scores and war points and scans and can drop the teams orbitals. This. Would make this game amazing and strategic.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sounds fair.
I'd like to see the map available on the war barge...
& Squad leaders able to draw on it before and during the match. For matches without comms, it would add a little more strategy. Obviously with the option to turn off a certain squads pointless scribbles... Game is full of trolls after all. |

I made this post a while ago regarding the war barge table and the FC and I've expanded it a little. I still think the FC should be on the ground but I'm not against an FC in the sky and most of what I said in the post would work with the FC only observing.
Benjamin Ciscko wrote:1st Step make the table in the WB usable with the ability to position your mercenaries vehicles etc.
2nd give everyone in the WB on your team a number, next give them all roles Tank, ADs, Logi, Heavy, Assault, Scout etc. These roles will be represented by shapes Diamond = Logi; circle = scout; Square = Sentinel etc. While in the warbarge map their should be the ability to save deployment arrangements so if you want to use the same deployment because your re-up'ing with the largely the same team or want to use the same squad set ups and deployment but different people it takes less time.
3rd make it obvious to the viewer where they are and the location of their squad so their Shape is color coded gold their squad green and the rest blue.
4th restrict use of it only to FC, SL's, and a few select people who have roles for it. Everyone can view it but only certain people can alter it.
5th Assigning FC, Their will be a new assignable role by either Director/CEO or CEO only and then a preference after that so if 2 people in the same battle have the FC role the one with the preference of 1 will get it over the preference of 2. The FC will still have the ability to transfer that role temporarily to anyone he choses in the warbarge. If their are no FC's in the battle it will be auto assigned by who has the next highest role FC, Director, TLO, TCO, Corp, SL and in the event of a "tie" alphabetically.
6th The FC will have the ability to drop OB's from all squads pools of OB's, he will also be able to set up initial rally points for all squads that will eventually expire. He will be identified by a triple chevron.
In the event of an observing FC they should get full vision of all scanners passive or active on the team.

Crazy idea: command suit. Heavy frame, two sidearms (a tip of the hat to history: officers always carried pistols, not rifles). Two equipment slots. Arbitrary slot count. Skill bonuses:
30% increase per rank to passive scan range. 15% decrease per rank to fitting costs of cloak field. 30% increase per rank to cloak field duration.
See where I'm getting at? A suit of stature with limited offensive capabilities, although a true badass can do some real damage with two pistols, capable of removing him or herself from the immediate battle by cloaking and then going into the map screen for extended periods of time. Thus, they can direct thier squad as an overseer, relaying tactical information gathered from thier massive passive scans, and then relaying with the squad visual confirmation of what's going on etc. it's a very specialised suit of course, but I remember playing the command role in Chromehounds and it was a ton of fun.

Really though if they added the ability to just be a field commander in a BF4-like commander mode I would be happy beyond words. The idea seems pretty straight forward as well.

Also. Given the current state of war in PC. E War is becoming more and more Powerfull.
New orbitals would greatly enhance this...and fight it
1000 point orbital- Map scan lasting 10 seconds. Entire map scanned. No one can hide from war barge scan.
1000 point Orbital- jammer. All radars are fogged out. Uplinks and equipment won't work for 10 seconds.
These 2 options would add quite the mix. Doesn't destroy...just enhances and blocks.

To add to that.
Orbitals in PC are not used the same way as they are in Pubs. They are not selfishly dropped for go for mass kills. They are technical. An eve lazer may be dropped on one nasty forge gunner or scout defending a letter.
So hence why I want more options of orbitals in PC. Because they all come in handy and have a purpose. We use emp because links are life in pc. Sometimes the enemy has a letter covered by high ground.. we kill the defended but because of great link placement can't stop his re spawn. Also can't get up there because it's covered by forge fire.
Orbitals are great. Plz more type

Why wouldn't he? He can get isk pay out and skill points. Plus. We don't pc for the pay. We fight for the fight. The win. Let the commander drop the orbitals.

I'm a huge fan of this.
I've really wanted to explore ways to make the tactical map a dynamic tool for FCs and Squad leaders. I think that would add some really nice depth to the game and if we ever get more than 16 guys on a team it will start to become pretty critical.
Quick points on the FC & ways to enable combat C&C:
1) Slighly deeper zoom on the tac map
2) Overlay the alpha-numeric grid on it for easy reference both in game and out and have clear cardinal direction markers on the map. Oh by the way...make cardinal directions stand out better on the player scan map bezel.
3) Show the locations of all blue dots and vehicles...we are all tied to the MCC after all.
4) Color code by squad or the numeric system noted by Roman...or really a combo of both. Ex. Squad 1 is "green" and has players 1-6, Squad 2 is "orange" and has players 7-8, Squad 3 is "Yellow" and has players 9-12, etc. This should color code the player, vehicle, and equipment.
6) Easy to grasp reference cue to see the WP production (in relation to WBs) for each friendly squad during the match. You could then start making calls like..."Sqd 1 - large flux strike on B, Sqd - 2, bring your laser in on the tank just to the north"
Bit of wishful thinking...but I have been a major proponent of Command Suits as well. If we could could re-purpose the Commando suits with solid defensive bonuses, scan range & precision, some minor suit stat buffs, drop the 2nd light weapon, AND add some type of warfare link bonus similar to EVE - that would be my goto suit.

Thank you for your time and consideration. Were you not in STB? I would keep you pinned back and dramatically reducing your kills from 100m or less in a scout sniper combo. You never could kill me, And I never you. Though it helped that you always had a logistics healer staying out of sight on you.
It is hard for me to take you seriously because of these early encounters, but I do see the wisdom in what you say. That said, I prefer Benjamin Ciscko post over yours, because he is less scrubby, but I personally must digress due to having no argument over your lack of ability and that type of behavior is not forum savvy. Wait.
Is this an insult...or a compliment...
Scrubby tactics is a forge gunner getting into a tactical position to cover the letter...denying the enemy high ground. ...and getting into a position go destroy enemy vehicles. All the while protecting myself from being on the ground so I'm not ganked by shot guns...
Or...I could go sig in the red line with a sniper rifle and go 3-0 with 150 wps
