obvious armor tanker is obvious lets say we have le min assault mk.o (for 4 4 slot layout purposes)
If he wants tank with complex plates, he gets 831 armor hp with regen of 2 hp/s. If he wants regen, he gets 237 armor hp and 40 hp/s regen. What you're proposing allows said assault to have 831hp and a regen of 40 hp/s. It takes approx. 20 seconds to fully recover from anything. Oh no! Shotgunner! He lands a hit on you, and if I'm not mistaken, a full blast is 600hp. Normally, said assault will be dead or nearly dead and looking for le logi. Instead, you can just walk around the objective once and be fully healed. Sentinels with a somewhat balanced slot layout will become OP with armor tank and armor rep. Yeah, plates affect speed, but for HMG Sentinels or Lone Wolf tankers etc. they become the masters of the game with lots of hp and near instantaneous regen (armor wise)

I'd agree it would be perfect...for armor tankers.
The challenge with your idea (and the status quo) is that shield tanking has to sacrifice shields to improve their shields, whereas with this change the shield tanker would still need to sacrifice sheilds, but the armor tanker has no such challenge.
Today, this imbalance means armor tankers get the benefit of the damage mods, but shield tankers have to sacrifice HP in highs.
I do like your ROF idea, though, and introducing this as a low might just even the balance a bit (or make the dual tanking Min Assault even more FoTM than it already is). |

Currently shield tanks can stack shield hp mods and some dampeners and CPU mods and not need much armor regen cause they are shield tankers.
Or they can stack some shields and regen mods in highs and use (in lows) dampeners or shield regulators and CPU mods
Currently armor guys stack armor and have 1 complex reactive or a small amount of reps with high much higher armor, while using shield regen mods in highs or dmg mods or minor shield hp mods.
advantage of shield regen high slot mods on armor tankers:
You attack a shield guy with a high armor suit (low armor reps)
when your enemies shields die in 2 seconds, your shields are also depleted, but you go around the corner and finish off the shield guy. This probably takes 6-7 seconds. Afterwards your shields start regen almost straight away cause the duration of the fight was only slightly shorter than shield regen delays of armor suits.
After the fight another enemy may surprise you, but at least you regenerated more shields than you would have if you had shield hp mods or dmg mods.
dmg mods work best with dampeners cause they allow you to usually surprise kill an enemy before they can react properly. Unless they are heavies.
Armor tankers need to sacrifice hp or reps to use dampeners and thus take full advantage of dmg mods.
If an armor tanker and shield both use dampeners then the shield tanker usually has the regen advantage (but they can only make use of there slower shield regen abilities in long range or medium range engagements, 40 to 90 meters) |
