Scrambler and Laser rifles have some of the highest damage profiles in the game, some of the highest damage outputs in the game, and are intended to be used against the lowest EHP suits in the game.
Im not sure why people think this is OK, these things need their profiles tightened up so that they dont make shield tanking impossible.
People want to complain about combat rifles and rail rifles, but the fact is nobody stops running armor tank fittings when they see some guy with a CR or RR. Nobody gets the heck out of dodge when they see a CR or RR firing nearby. But thats exactly what I have to do if I see a scrambler user who I know can aim. I have to leave if Im shield tanked and go fight somewhere else if I dont want to get wrecked and lose a clone inside of human reaction time.
Other weapons with this kind of damage have actual disadvantages.
Shotgun has short range.
Bolt pistol has very low fire rate, a charge up, and low ammo count/clip.
Sniper rifle is virtually unusable in close combat.
Plasma Cannon is difficult to hit with and has one shot per reload
Forge gun, difficult to hit with and has a long charge up time before firing, plus small clip.
The scrambler and laser has heat buildup, but if you honestly think thats harder to manage than the disadvantages of the other rifle weapons and justify the massive overwhelming instant damage that the weapons can put out that make shield tanking virtually suicidal, you're just crazy or a moron. |

When will people acknowledge that the scrambler rifle's rediculous instant damage output is an outlier that makes it stupidly overpowered against scouts and shield tanked suits? |

CCP Rattati was pretty clear that the numbers just do not support your claims. If they change it will be looked into. We don't see a huge influx of ScR users because it is a skill weapon. Fighting it also requires skill. In other words: get gud
He outright said it was OP looking at the numbers, and thats just basic kills per spawn, I bet if he filtered those numbers to shield suits or scouts it would be absurd how OP it looked. But its ok, keep pretending its perfectly fine.
My problem with the scrambler is that it just makes it impossible to run a scout or shield suit or any low health suit at all without getting insta zapped from 80 meters. There is no all around good weapon in the game that does that kind of thing except for the scrambler rifle. Its a massive outlier in the rifle category and it needs to be changed. |
