We all know the state of CCP Shanghai's dev team; Rattati, a handful of devs, and an intern who thinks she is working for China's Got Talent. With such a small team the idea of them developing PvE is nearly impossible to fathom. It would take months and months of dedicated effort (no updates/hotfixes) for them to produce an alpha for PvE in DUST 514.
Then CCP reaches out to us with a message...
CCP wrote:Players, we know that many of you want PvE. It's one of the highest voted features on the community crowdsourcing trello board for good reason. We want to give that to you; however, the CCP Shanghai dev team is small. In order to achieve this goal, we are offering the community a deal.
A new item will become available on the AUR market: Remote Salvage Rights Contract
The item will be available for 30,000 AUR. Purchasing it will place you in a list of players to alpha, and later beta, test PvE content. The content will not be available initially, obviously, as AUR does not directly = PvE. We would have to hire artists and programmers first, but they would solely be focused on PvE.
They then add a goal of X AUR spent on RSRC's somewhere for us to view. They provide updates on current PvE development and involve the community in the design process.
Start your post with a simple: Yes I would buy an RSRC or No I would not buy an RSRC
Then explain why.

pumping up wrote:Undecided. Could you please link the source to that? Source for what? I pulled this out of my ass.
It's just me asking if CCP did a kind of internal Kickstarter-esque thing for PvE, would you do it?

I can't however, unless I magically find some AUR lying around. (Pockets are empty, so can't buy aurum) Yet I would love to see PvE in the game as it has been my dream since I first saw the trailer that showed it off.
I do however smell a burning troll, this wouldn't be it would it? No trolling. I'm gauging the community's interest in this. And it's cool if you can't afford to buy one right this minute. I mean, they would be available for a good while before an alpha was produced so you would have time.

pumping up wrote:You'll have to wait for legion, if you want pve. I'm under no illusion that PvE will happen in Dust. It's just too big of a project.
I'm really just curious if the community would rally (with their wallets) to such a popular idea. If they would put their money where their mouths are.

pumping up wrote:Well... I wouldn't. The scope of that project is to big to be filled properly. Especially only by taking 'donations'. It never could live up to the hype. I'd rather have rattati and friends focus on stuff they can achieve in a quality that won't haunt our deepest nightmares. Okay, so I'll mark you down for a 'No' then. Thank you for participating

pumping up wrote:WIll that still hold true for that very moment dust goes on full life support and bleeds dry slowly because legion was released? We haven't heard anything about Legion in almost a year. Legion is stillborn. Focus on DUST 514 since it actually has a dev team.

Cavani1EE7 wrote:Yes, I would buy it although bots are boring. This is a perfectly valid feeling. Personally, I am of the mind that just having PvP or just having PvE is boring. In every single MMO I have ever played I alternate between these two types based on mood.
Some days I want to rip mercs' faces off. Some days I want to blap red crosses with some corp mates and bullshit.

bolsh lee wrote:For Dust - No For Legion (if it's still a thing) - Yes This poll is just referencing Dust 514. Legion, if it even exists at this point, will most like have PvE.
I'll put you down as a No. Thank you for participating.

JIMvc2 wrote:If Dust cant have Pve then why do other games have it. Its unfair. Other games are working with much larger development teams with much bigger wallets. Rattati has acknowledged that his team is small and we are at the mercy of what a handful of devs can do.

Ralis Sharn wrote:Yes, I would purchase one. I've always been a fan of Pve in games and would love the ability to alternate between pve and pvp. And that makes 7 'Yes' votes. 7 x 30,000 AUR = $100 USD-ish. This is just a small portion of the community, by the way.

Helghus Resther wrote:Agreed with that, I'd rather see the stuff that was in the trailers vs fighting against bots. When you say "bots", do you mean NPC mercenaries or drones? Because I think I might be confusing the two.
And, is that a 'Yes' or 'No'?

Dreis Shadowweaver wrote:No, I wouldn't. I don't understand what people think is so great about PvE; how is it better than PvP in any way? That's the thing Dreis, it isn't better it's different. Think of like a different game mode. I personally think ambush the most unfun pile of garbage game mode ever... but I understand that is my opinion and some people love an objective-less game mode like that. It's just a preference.
Kallas Hallytyr wrote:Yes I would. Although considering that many of us have already paid for this when we signed up with a Merc Pack way back when...I think those players should get in for free! How I wish CCP would just allow people of X loyalty rank or above do something like what I describe in the OP. People who have paid good chunks of money into this game should be able to participate in PvE. We are "keeping the lights on".
