The Ion Pistol, all you gain is 0.2 faster cooldown, a second faster overheat cooldown and some 10m range.
Compare it to the Bolt Pistol that gains faster reload, double ammo capacity and clip size, and halved charge time. <-- Stats that have proven to be OP when they were on the proto variant. Oh and the Bolt Pistol starts with higher range than the Officer Ion Pistol, so whatever.

Magsec gains increased damage and fire rate
Nova Knives increased damage, lower charge time AND given a speed multiplier when charged.
Although the absolute values aren't that great, it's still changes that make me want to use the weapon.

So do you not see why a second shaved off from an overheat and an extra 10m (that is already achieved by the base stats of the other pistols) is bad?
It's terrible, and I would only use it because of vanity, not because it's actually good enough to warrant its officer status.

Absolutely not.
Just no.
After all the changes the heat is barely a factor.
It's ANNOYING, not an actual problem like with the SCR or Laser Rifle.
You could remove the overheat right now and its performance would barely change.

Here's a suggestion: Reduce the heat gain from a charged shot, so the officer variant can keep firing after applying dat alpha.
That will make it good, and give it flavor from the normal variant.

Well Rattati is Gallente. I'm sure it will perform on par with other officer weapons. Don't knock it until you try it.
I doubt he plays favorites when it comes to balancing.
And it really won't be on par, I can 100% guarantee it.
When it comes to weapons, suits and modules, all I need is one look and I already know its performance.
I knew it with every single weapon that was introduced in the past, I know it now too.
