First of all, this is the hardest game to go solo in. Hell, even when I go solo I still tend to run with the pack just to survive.
Secondly, I find that it's not so much the suit you use, but your fitting in general. I go by this beleife that you can never know how good your fitting is until you run solo.
So try everything and anything (you got a lot of militia gear to try) and if you find a fitting with a play style you like try it out solo.
Good luck mate, and happy hunting.

If you want Assault, I spec Minmatar or Gallente because thy are both very user friendly. The Gallente is fairly durable, and any real gallente fits will be semi fast with a decent regen, which makes for hood solo play. The Minassault is just extremely versatile. Their 4/4 layout with relatively even HP values and great speed make for a really good solo suit.
If you want Scout, Caldari or Gallente are good. I'd probably go with Gallente here, simply for the profile reduction. Being off the scanners is extemely good for running solo.

no definitive answer, but generally an assault or scout, as logis and heavies tend to be more situational and geared toward squad play.
whichever you run id keep it mobile
if you have poor skills then being redline sniper or tanker may be the way to go, then you can stop worrying about skill and focus on forum whining.

Sentinel: Caldari or minmatar. More skill intensive, painful to use for new players.
Scout: not the amarr.
Logi: take barrel of rifle, place in mouth, pull trigger. Repeat until squadded.
Assault: Gallente or minmatar. You can spike the speed of both so escape is an option.

other people also have no issues hitting my minmatar scout too which even faster.
conclusion, there are no problems in hit detection, it is the usual "server sided" communication that you have in any other FPS. |

Considerations:
1. When you run solo, you can't count on anyone to pick you up, so usually if you die, you lose a suit. This makes well-built cheap suits important. Cut costs everywhere that it is practical to do so.
2. Other's may not be around to supplement your weapon damage profile with theirs. Be aware of the limitations of your weapons, their damage profiles and DPS. Use a high level of discretion concerning which enemy to engage.
3. Use a suit that allows you to isolate a single enemy. This usually entails having enough speed to control cover and prevent enemies from being able to gang up on you. Avoid being shot by multiples simultaneously.
4. Because you're alone, you'll get more done if you can be two places at one. Use REs strategically as often as possible. REs are also a great choice for dealing with shield/armor tanked enemies who would otherwise be a huge chore to take down.
5. You don't want to spend a long time killing a single enemy, because chances are that they are in a suad. If you spend too much time killing them, then their squad mates have time to come to their rescue, which makes the fight that much more complicated. Use a weapon that kills quickly.
6. Hacking is soooo dangerous as a solo player. If you're going to do it, ensure that you can either hack at unreal speeds, or have enough scan precision and range amplification to watch your own back, or have a cheap enough suit that it doesn't matter if you lose it.
7. APEX makes a great addition to any soloist's wardrobe. |

you need to state your purposes. to max sp? to attempt to win games? to focus on V/AV? etc. also are your cores maxed? what suits are you proto in? are you proto in scout? for instance i'm only proto in al 4 logis so my best solo suit has to be one of them.
not knowing what you purposes are in a match i would still say to solo well make sure you have a proto scanner and proto hives.

Before going solo you must accept the fact that now you are not part of a team and thus you cannot get mad when the team loses. So, forget about winning the battle. Once you do this you will be a much happier player. i go day after dayof frustration because I can't control or direct the other 15 playrs who often times than not only run with a 1/4 of their brain activated. You kow, its the simple things like running pass an uplink and not destroying it.
But that is neither here or there as far as your question goes. The thing with going solo is realizing that you have ZERO support thus you must reply only on yourself. With this in mind you want a fit that moves fast, is hard to detect or has fast regen (shield or armor). Me and my wife have an alt character that we share and its a heavy. I mostly run it solo and thus it has reactive plates and a complex repairer. I have the HMG leveld to 5 and use complex damamge mod. The idea with this guy is to kill fast, take cover and regen. Repeat as needed and believe me it is needed very often.
I have other fits to run solo too. For example I have a min scout fit who whole purpose in life is to run around hacking stuff. Killing is secondary for this guy. As a matter of fact it is a basic min scout.
I have other various scouts that I use depending on the situation whether I need to kill or to run around giving support.
Unfortunately my main character is a logi and solo playing with this guy is too damn expensive and the suit doesn't take a lot of damage so i only use it if I'm squading. I mention this so that you know that not every suit is "suited for every purpose".
Another thing you can do is to squad up with random people. When you start the battle move your character to an open squad. Why? Because you help them build an orbital and also so that you see what their planned maneuvers are. If you see a couple of greens headed in a certain direction then you can join them and thus multiple your firepower. If thing don't go well then you just do your own thing. If you like the team then stick with them and make new friend. If not then move to s different team on the next battle. I call this tactic "the special guess" with me being that special guess. |

solo blueberries like me are EFFICIENTLY stupid.
You have two types of idiot not in comms.
1: the drooling idiot. Normal battlefield cannon fodder.
2: The Experienced idiot. Effective, usually using standard and militia grade gear to murder proto tards and anyone stupid enough to think "easy target." Idiot because you know... you just KNOW that if you could point that jackass in the same direction you happen to be going in, your life would be SO much easier.
