New game mode: Convoy
The idea is simple, there are two "points of interest" on the map: 1. Storage Silo / Extractor / Production Facility (Yes, the things you use in EVE PI to generate ressources) 2. Launch Pad / Space Port
There will be a timer for each source (eg. Silo/ Extractor/Production Facility). Whoever controls the source when the timer runs out will get a crawler for his team.
Crawlers are heavyly armed automated vehicles, which transport ressources. At this point, you got one that is full of goodies.
If you control a Launch Pad or Spaceport, the crawler will move towards that location. If you have more than one, it will approach the nearest one. It will only use streets, no offroad driving here (its a dumb bot).
If the crawler reaches the Pad/Spaceport, it will unload its cargo and the goods will be launched into space for pickup by your MCC/Allies.
Goals: 1. If you deplete the clone reserves, the battle is over and you win if you are the one with clones left, as usual. 2. If you get a set amount of ressources launched first, you win. ( the interesting goal)
When the battle is over, you get a share of the ressources your team managed to launch (yes, your employer will take most of it, but a little share for everyone will be payed out)
So it is completely possible, to not get a single launch through until the battle is over, but as you can get a share, it is interesting to get the crawlers to your lauchpad. Even if you dont meet the victory condition, you get a share.
This game mode could be really intersting, as you have to conquer targets in the right order and protect a moving target, which is very dumb and will get itself shot if you dont protect it (the crawler, driving slowly in the middle of the street).
For the future, the ressources paid out by this game mode can go into the EVE Market. An interesting way to tie the markets together. Those ressources could for example be used to manufacture T2 ammo for orbital strikes (to be closely related to DUST) or something only interesting for EVE players (to make DUST politics interesting for EVE pilots)
Some other ideas: EVE Players (or DUST players, if they get a map screen) could invest isk in finding valuable ressources. If a spot is found, a battle will be started for those ressources. One team fights for the investor, one for the local landlord (npc/sov holder). part of the investment are the modules to gather the ressources (extractors / launch pads), but the investor can also assign a packet of tanks/turrets/whatever to his investment, which will be usable by the team fighting for him. Sov holders may also set up some ressources in case something is found on their turf, NPCs always give something into the battle. Free tanks for everyone
