+1 to the Titan map idea and a little something added in. Why not two different types of contracts. The first type is covert, these are ones where the ship hasn't entered into a battle yet and it's for sabotaging the ship before the attacking corp invades. The second type is emergency contracts, these are during battles and have short life spans for both merc companies to take on.
During the emergency battles the ship of course will take damage and both sides have higher clone amounts, but the time limit is shorter and if the ship is destroyed in Eve then it's destroyed in D514 which ends in a draw for both companies. The emergency contract can of course have multiple types, ranging from assanation to sabatoge. They also would award more isk and reputation for whichever company won and if there is rep, then the defeated would lose more rep if they lost. It makes these kinds of contracts a gamble, if you win, you win big. Lose, and you lose big.
The covert contracts also have a few hiccups, the attacking company can only send in a set number of mercs and their clone pool is smaller for each indiviual merc. For the defenders, initially there merc numbers are small, but once a merc has found one of the attackers, they can have more from their company enter the match. The timelimit for these matches would be longer than emergency contracts and the ship wouldn't have a damage meter either, but the difficulty would be greater because of the limitations the attackers would have. Like having to procure weapons from only supply points in the ship, and they'd have to capture spawn points as they go through or start back at the beginning. Also, if they capture a supply or spawn point before being found, the alarm sounds so it makes capturing a tactical choice.
This idea of course requires that the Titan be multi-leveled and rather big, so these matches wouldn't be short but they'd have a real effect on Eve itself and would require the players involved to have real skill. This can also work with stations, both in the covert and emergency style of it.
For station matches the covert could be to take over the station allowing the attackers to actually have the station on their side when they go to invade, or it could be to detonate the station which would destroy it and take it out of the battle completly. During emergency contracts it could be to sabotage the station to damage any of the ships it repairs, or go into an overload state and detonate, causing massive damage to all around it. |
