This has long been resolved conclusively. The root cause of all the control issues is low framerates. Low framerates in DUST are not caused by network lag (which is almost impossible, and not something Unreal Engine is known for), nor by CCP being entirely incompetent, but by Unreal Engine running extremely poorly on the unique PS3 architecture.
To fix this, aside from drastically reducing world detail (which is unlikely to happen), a major rework of Unreal Engine would be required, and considering that PS3 is near the end of its life cycle and that this work would be completely useless for any other platform, we can safely assume that CCP will never make this significant investment.
In other words no, DUST will never run significantly better on the PS3 than it does today. It's useless to press CCP for answers because they can't give any. They (and us) can only make the best of DUST on PS3 while it lasts, and look forward to a better future on another platform (read: PC). |

When? Performance has been bad since I started playing (I think that was Uprising 1.5), the only thing that made it worse were the new cities which are even more complex than some older maps. Judging from what people have been saying, controls have been screwed up since Uprising (i.e. the switch to Unreal Engine), so I highly doubt that performance ever was significantly better (on Unreal Engine).
Maybe there is new network lag which makes things even worse (I haven't noticed it yet), but that should not affect controls.
Another thing which could affect perception of poor performance is time to kill, which was increased in a patch some time ago. I personally thought that was a poor decision, since a shorter TTK is not just an equalizer in terms of gear, it also makes shoddy controls a bit less noticeable. |

Which is when they switched to Unreal Engine if I'm not mistaken, so unless they switch engines again (fat chance), this is a closed case unfortunately. |
