Can't we just have the slots locked to STD+MLT gear, so we just can't use ADV and PRO gear on them? I say this because I can already see you messing up the "exact necessary fitting space". Sorry if I am sceptical, but every patch/update/buff/nerf has made me this way.

Not entirely accurate (from a DUSTer's perspective), you could buy it for ISK, as many people did. I myself sold a few and have 4 of my own (on different characters).
