I skilled into swarms because of annoying vehicles. I only skilled into the swarms and took them to 4. what should I skill into? and should I get a better dropsuit than a MLT amarr medium frame? |

Minmatar commando gets the bonus to swarms
Damage mods help too.
If you took swarms to lvl4, you might as well finish it to 5
Maybe even some proficiency...

You don't skill into the Minmatar Commando for the +10% Damage, you skill into it for the Reload Speed. That aside, I don't recommend the MinCom as it's not very friendly for new players.
Though if I may ask, is there anything else you're skilled into?

You are fine... That I-Win button can be put on any suit.

Take a step back and focus on getting a proper suit before you further skill into anything else. Also don't blow your SP on things you have no idea about. Focus on your core skills before you try to skill into anything new. If you spend any SP, make sure you know what you're getting into.

Here is my plan if I were to skill into Minmandos. It requires ~3m SP (in order on the skill tree):
Dropsuit Command 3:
-Min Heavy 3
--Minmmando 3
Dropsuit Upgrades 3:
-Armor 1
--Plates 3
-Core Upgrades 3
--Engineering 1
Weaponry 3:
-Weapon Upgrades 3
-Light Weapons 3
--Combat Rifle 1
--Swarms 4
This is the bare minimum (fitting including) to fit this:
Minmando M-1
Enh Damage Mod
Enh Reactive Plate
Combat Rifle
CBR Swarm
K-2 Hive
Optimize from here. www.protofits.com is your friend, plan accordingly.

Skill into any commando suit.
Min altar has damage bonus but needs sp to take to 5
I went caldari, basic starts with 2 high slots for damage mods.
I didn't wanna spend 5mil sp to take to 5
Commando lets you equip two light weapons.
This means you can equip 2 swarms.
After shooting 3 times switch and fire 3 more.
This does more damage in less time than taking minmatar to lv5
Of course minmatar 5 with 2 swarms does the most but sp cost.
Basic minmatar does not have 2 high slots for damage mods,
That's why I went caldari for swarm av. |

I may be missing something, but I'm pretty sure that I didn't call for a tank nerf before Uprising 1.7. - Atiim

That's like going into the Cal assault for the reload speed.

Not trying to start an argument, but MinComs only have 2 High Slots.
To put that into perspective, MinAssaults with 4 DMs can reach +20% Damage (with stacking penalties) while the MinCom can reach +23.5% Damage with 2 DMs.
The 3.5% won't increase the SL's TTK (neither would the 5.5% if the Assault only used 3 DMs).

Nvm, I redid my math and got your numbers.
Still though, in practice that's totally impractical for the Min assault:
-Minmando still gets a higher bonus and can be used at the ADV tier suit.
-There's no way it's fitting 4 complex damage mods plus supporting hives and defenses in order to be viable.
-The Minmando also gets a light weapon for AI (with the same damage bonuses).
You have to admit, it's a lot more useful than you're making it out to be. Far more than my Cal scout's scan rangeGǪ

I didn't mean to say that it's useless, that would be silly. All I was trying to say is that the reload speed bonus is more beneficial than the +10% Bonus.

I think it just reflects most new players experience's and how, despite tanker tears, vehicles can dominate a match. If you don't have AV there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.
Forge gun was the weapon I first took to proto and I did it with a STD suit.
Because, that's why.
