I'm sorry but if you die too many times from remotes you suck. Plain and simple
I am an average level player and I die from hmg's the most often.
Maybe three times in two weeks I've been killed by them and I play at least 4 matches everyday
What's funny is I almost never carry grenades with me so yes I die most often from them when I hack a point.
Remote explosives are fair and balanced
Start learning to look for and anticipate them.

Look at Minmatar Assaults. They are now being spammed more than any Assault. Does that mean they are OP? Nope.
Now. RE's are not balanced. They deal too much damage in order to be thrown away so far and have a low delay.
There intended use was for both AV and booby trapping enemies.
Now they are being used to clear out rooms.
Aren't grenades meant to be the ones clearing the room?
Why equip a grenade that you can only carry 2 and eats away Nanohives in seconds and have low damage compared to an RE that has about same throw distance, lower delay (grenades are 5 and RE's are still 2-3 second delay) can be ressuplied at nanohives for lower costs than grenades and deal WAY more damage than grenades. Oh and you carry more too.
Having the abilty to throw an object that 1 hit kill almost ALL the suits im the game, being able to throw them continously from any height, or just simply running infront of people amd chucking the RE at them while still being able to be resupplied from a nanhive?
Yeah, they either need an animation for activating (packed RE's not included), a damage nerf, making it so they can't restock at a nanohive or addind the hacking wheel thingy before tossing one out.

I do not use remotes ( well very rarely I do)
Proxy mines are AV and they are a joke
If grenades were buffed you would cry about that too
I see them, I avoid them. I've done this plenty if times
The only thing I want nerfed are slight HMG range reduction and vehicle armor repair ( yes I'm that guy who thinks good tanks are invincible)
The hmg is a ohko in cqc that also clears rooms and does a lot of dmg The re is the counter to this combo of logi/heavy therefore it is fair and balanced
Either you are a suck bag heavy ( believe me the good ones know re's are coming) or you are just plain unlucky or bad at this game right now.
Re's are fine, look for them and you will die less from them

"Uber long"? What game are you playing, because it clearly isn't Dust514... It doesn't matter if the description on the item says 5 seconds, when that is not what actually happens in game. Or do you actually believe that dropsuits have a, for example, 3000 meter scan radius too, just because the description says so?

On balance I'm on the side of the RE users - assuming the other side are the heavy/logi crowd. the RE's are a good leveller in a very difficult situation. Without RE's there is a good chance DUST would just be about heavies and logi's which would be dreadful.
I think you need to get used to the idea that sentinels can die too. the rest of us shoulder cheap losses all the time.
I rarely go on an RE frenzy - but when my side is getting protostomped I will pull out the RE's to help my team. and guess what it works! Or do you think you should be able to just stomp players with less SP than you and waltz through the match with zero deaths? Sure I could take you on from a distance and pick off one or two of you - or I could help my hapless team, run in close and take out a big crowd of you. Sucks being taken down by someone when you thought they were all helpless doesn't it?
RE's work a treat but they also come with disadvantages - you still need wits to use them.

This is not the result of TESTING, they did NOT TEST the thing...
what is it designed to be? what is the purpose of the RE? For the STD version to kill 4 proto heavies?
Me and another logi + 2 proto heavies have been destroyed by ONE standard RE. That's hundreds and hundreds of thousands of ISK, to a STD RE. How is that risk and reward? How does anything like the RE have any place within DUST's game model of risk and reward?
REs should have been removed a long time ago

getting killed by an RE is the equivalent of the other player saying "I could have killed you, but I have no skill, so I spammed an OP OHK spam weapon because I'm a bad player who needs to get easy kills on good players".
If you want to kill me use some bloody skill, why does a OHK spam weapon exist in this game? What's the point of spending 30M SP in this game and running an expensive suit if it doesn't matter what suit you're using or how good you are when anyone can destroy anyone with a simple piece of STD level equipment.
It's broken, remove the damned thing.

this is absolute rubbish. and anyway you are not talking about skill you are talking about SP. discovering RE's gave me a chance to get some kills against stompers from the position of around 5m SP to the stompers 30m +
Anything that allows newer players to feel some semblance of competition is completely within reason - and even ignoring the fact that it's a helpful weapon to combat higher SP players (Stompers) you can't argue that your ridiculous heavy suit with it's permanently attached logi gimp is in some way balanced because it isn't.
So a newb bought a few cheap kills and went 3/15 to you 50/1 ?? BOO HOO!!!
In the nicest possible way of course..
and ps - if you're trying to say it takes no skill to get an assault suit up close and personal to a gang of heavies, drop an RE, hope it's within range and they haven't seen it, then set it off before they move.... then you are talking shash. it ain't that easy. and if you think you are somehow entitled to immunity as you hang out en masse by the point creating a heavy wall for your entire stompathon - then look up and realise you are still vulnerable!
