Why would there ever be a spider tank?
An eight legged tank would have too many vulnerabilities to be even remotely effective.

back in the olde days tankers had many modules that would allow them to rep shields and armor as well as other things so you would see tanks with rep tool like beams attached to each other forming a web like appearance

Thats how battlefield players do it. Have a engineer at the back of the tank repping. You could do it with 2 min logis using core focused reptools. That+ your own armor reps= insane tank. Tough it requires for the tank to sit still and most likely the logis will be killed very quickly by infantry.

Legged vehicles have some advantages in 'mountainous' terrain where steeply angled slopes and a lot of debris can be present (which could make them useful in situations with lots of debris, like a 'ruined' city with a lot of collapsed buildings) but they have some disadvantages to them too. Given the right situations they might potentially be able to ascend vertically with enough articulation on legs (wedge yourself between two buildings and go up 4 legs at a time with the other 4 bracing).
They'd never be a MBT (unless its a bizarro world), but they could have some specialist applications.

I saw a gang of logis all with leashes repping each other and a few heavies. There were like 6-8 logi and 2-3 sentinels.
Does that count?
Amarr/Minmatar vehicles are OP (especially Minmatar speed tanks)
