Look at it like this...
Man A walks up to Man B.
Man A, "Barack Obama is an alien!"
Man B, "Uh... okay. Prove it."
Man A, "Prove I'm wrong!"
Man B, "A reasonable person would not believe our president is an alien... so no."
Man A, "HA! I GOT YOU! HE'S TOTALLY AN ALIEN!"
That's what you sound like right now.

I think you're smart, but naive. There are alot of really confident guys that are sure of a great many things until there unsure. Maybe it goes by a different name here, or is built differently. Lag switches, for instance, probably aren't limited to the same equipment that they were first built from by now you know.
There are some very lonely desperate guys out there capable of developing much better equipment. Sony was impossible to be hacked.... until it was hacked.

Haha the lag thing is true haha. I shoot at him and the internet is perfect then he sees me and my internet gets choppy all of a sudden, it happened too often, the rest of the match is smooth, even when shooting at other players. Woweee. This feels like playing Proeveolution soccer on my PS3. Lagging is so easy so I am not surprised that its being used here haha. Silly

There are some very lonely desperate guys out there capable of developing much better equipment. Sony was impossible to be hacked.... until it was hacked. Sorry, but naive is one of the last things I am. I do research for a living. I get paid based on my factual findings, if I am wrong, I dont get paid. If you are somehow right, that "the equipment has changed" or whatever, its no longer a lag switch. Lag switches are tied directly into your internet cable, when you switch it "on" it disconnects your internet breifly. Anyone who has lost their internet connection in dust knows they they are -- wait for it -- DISCONNECTED! Astonishing, I know. This is why I said it is literally impossible to lag switch in dust.
Now, you can DDoS the server to create lag, but then again, ANYONE playing on that server will catch lag, including the person doing the attack, so that negates that theory. To DDoS a single individual or even a whole team of individuals, you would need their personal IP address. I highly doubt people have the time (even if they were the worlds best hacker,) or ambition to hack peoples IPs at the beginning of a match, just so they can win..
Sorry again, but you are neither that good, or important, for people to put that much effort into winning a video game. You need to accept the fact that CCPs servers/coding is garbage, and there is nothing you can do about it.

Better yet, humor me. Phone dying and it's late.
Why is it so important to any of you that it can't possibly have a negative effect on the game? Referring to modded controllers here.
I'm curious because there are multiple threads where some of the same guys said they wouldn't work in this game as well.... that's clearly not true?!
So how do we know the lag switches that "don't work" for whatever reason, not saying you're wrong, actually do, but in a different form?
Why is it so important to the 1% of the top players to hit every ththread like a ton of bricks that bring this up? Don't tell me you're all of a sudden giving two wet d*mns about the lower 99% now? That surely isn't it as they are all clearly scrubs with bad internet right?
Why not, being the elites that you are, not pose the question to CCP? Since you're doing what's right by making sure everyone knows that it won't work. Go the extra mile for the boys! Get CCP to tell all us naysayers that it's impossible.
You think they will?

I wouldn't dare insult another country in that way, but you're right. Not everyone plays from "america"?! South american players do cause lag or latency, but that's manageable to a degree. Some say euro players are worse, and euro guys say american.
We have now clearly reached an agreement here sir!
However, we are apparently referring to two very different types of lag. One is simply due to, as you all say, where you're located. The other.... not so much.
The latter is what players are, as you say here in this wasteland, QQing about. Where whole guys skip 5 meters to safety, stop taking damage at 0/0, and a whole host of other issues.
Me and you being in the states, and our enemy being in Spain doesn't cause that. I want to know what does?

I think we would all like to know the answer to that question Bradric. And you are right, the similarities to a lag switch are uncanny. I really think it has to do with CCPs lag/latency compensation I spoke about earlier. Like I said, CCP has been known for bad code in the past, and we ALL know they tried to develop dust as cheaply as possible. They used subpar developers who had very little knowledge of the FPS and online gaming industry and we are now all paying for it..

I can't speak for everyone, but I have played games where it definitely works! As god is my witness it looks a helluva lot like what we're seeing in dust!
I've met players, again not saying any names because I don't want any witch-hunting, that have admitted to using them in previous games, and this one! In thei words "I used to hide inside the null cannon wall, and shotgun people". This was long before cloaks back before 1.7! I asked "bro wait?! You mean he didn't see you standing there?". He said "No you don't get it. He couldn't because I was in the actual steel where he couldn't".
Now there's no way you have to believe me, or me believe him. However, this was also done in C.O.D. where dudes would hide in walls, and shoot out was it not?
There's an uncanny resemblance to the things we see in dust that I've seen in other games before where it was attributed to lag switches and modded controllers.
I would like to just blame CCP more than anyone, and more often then not I do, but what if it isn't them?

The problem is there has been lag switching in WoW where it is a "Lagg switch macro" that has been around for years evolving.. and many games that run server side for a long time :p As most do on PC...

Thats actually refered to as speed-hacking, not lag-switching, and requires a program to be loaded and running on the PC you are playing from. Most MMOs and consoles have programs that can detect these programs running in the background now days. Its only possible to do if you have modded your console, and PSN doesn't allow modded consoles to play online, as they require updates (which a new program has to be made for the update.) It is much more popular on PC games, hence why I quit PC gaming for the most part. Consoles are less prone to these types of hacks...

No, Im sure some are, its just highly unlikely they have succeeded yet, seeing as there is no information available about it. There are always people trying to hack or cheat their way to the top. Fortunately for console gamers, it is a lot harder to do on console because of hardware limitiations and regular updates.
I only play dust514ums now. It was always more fun than the actual game anyways.

Lag has been on the PS3 for years. What are you guys talking about? I played PES and had to give up playing online because it was ridiculous, whenever I am about to score a goal, the game gets ridiculously slow all of a sudden every singe time. Some say it can be as easy as starting up a torrent or downloading a huge file.It might be common place in PC gaming but its no different on the PS3, thats why I gave up playing football(soccer) online. I might go back this year. I cant keep playing only dust.
Ignorance really is bliss. And we do have a lot of ignorant kids on this forums. A lot of the language carry the air of knowledge when they know nothing. Of course no one knows everything but acting like your view is absolute and law is just plain silly and laughable.
