Ok for the thousandth time
This will not help. Mu is not MATCHMAKING, it is team balancing.
let's use an arbitrary designator for Mu Ranks.
say you have a squad of beta players, four alphas, two Omegas (because they'll end you) two betas six charlies and the rest are all Delta ranked.
It winds up pairing the players at the top of the queue like this:
Team 1: Team 2: Beta Omega Beta Omega Beta Alpha Beta Alpha Beta Alpha Beta Alpha Beta Beta Charlie Charlie Charlie Charlie Charlie Charlie Delta Delta Delta Delta Delta Delta Delta Delta Delta Delta Delta Delta
Omegas are top tier Mu ranking, shown here as solo players along with all four alphas (second but still badass) to offset the Beta squad as being in a squad is a force multiplier by itself.
Charlies are average players
Deltas suck or are raw newbies from the academy.
Mu doesn't segregate players. It tries to even out the Mu ranking.
the reason why it doesn't WORK is because of all the risk-averse pansyasses who played the safe way to do things like farm warpoints at the rapid rate, pad KD, seek the easy road and generally screw off riding the coattails of people who are actually... Competent.
So a lot of people in DUST who like to bang the horn of how badass they are in fact have inflated Mu scores. take them out of their squad with whoever their pet (insert the one person who's actually good at this game that they know here) and have them not getting carried and you see they tend to get mopped across the floor by fair to middling players like me.
Mu has two things wrong with it:
1: It's not had time for the full equation to settle out and sort out peoples' actual Mu scores because of :reasons: and circumstance.
2: People who (for whatever reason) have bizarrely inflated or depressed win/loss ratios and warpoint per minute scores.
But the reason we can't have real matchmaking which would separate say Me from the academy grad in his brand new Soma that he skilled into is player counts.
We simply do not have enough people running AT THE SAME TIME to segregate the player base like that. I'm willing to bet that the number of active accounts is absolutely polarized with a lot of 25+ million SP vets on one end, and a plethora of pre-5 mil newbs on the other with the middle ranks actually being relatively sparse.
EVE Online is what you get when engineers attempt to create "fun" without consulting someone who comprehends the word.
