I'd like to discuss his topic because well, the laser has no variants what so ever and I'd like to see some new Amarr weaponry !
* Let's note that the laser as of the moment shoots a constant stream of damage, increasing damage as the heat builds up.
* Also note that the laser rifle specifications is fine where it stands.
*Another note that the LR is mainly used as a suppression based.
My idea consisted of a new variant consisted of instead of a continuous constant laser, why not make a Laser Rifle to where it's just charge based. I suppose you'd classify that as a breach LR.
When you pull down the trigger it charges up and will hold a charge until the trigger is released. Upon its release it will shoot out a medium sized beam, dishing out a greater amount of damage than the standard LR. (Still working numbers, will edit and update later)

Awesome ! But that's heavy weaponry, LR has no variants. LR seems underused to me..

It doesn't matter what the enemy has on. You just melt everything. If you want to be really mean put on two Complex Damage mods and get the Laser Rifle Damage Proficiency to V.
You could also use an Amarr Commando V and be a big sausage.

Give me a close combat laser.
Optimal from 0-60. Higher damage than current laser. However, damaage does not increase through continuous fire.

Fun ideas first...
Nosferatu Variant
Drains enemy shields and adds it to the wielder's, but doesn't do the same for armor. Drains stamina. Drain nanites from nanohives to repair own's own armor and ammo.
Ricochet Variant
Gets more damage after it hits a wall. Angle on a doorway so people can't go through without taking tons of damage.
Flash Variant
The point of impact on the laser has a small continuous explosion/sphere of light that blinds and damages enemies.
Piercing Variant
Does very little simultaneous damage to both shield and armor... however, it gets damage bonus on headshots. Very small time to shoot before it overheats.
Burn Variant
Leaves a small trail of fire on whatever surface the laser hits... This includes players...
Okay... Now for the realistic (and boring) stuff...
Assault Laser Rifle
- Base Damage: High, but lower than other rifles.
- Damage Build Up: Slower
- Overheat: Faster
- Optimal: Closer to enemies, but still relatively long ranged
- Magazine: Smaller
- Seize Time: Shorter
- Seize Damage: Low
Tactical Laser Rifle
- Base Damage: Low
- Damage Build Up: Significantly Higher
- Overheat: Significantly Higher
- Optimal: Possibly Longer Range
- Magazine: Smaller
- Seize Time: No Change
- Seize Damage: Same
Breach Laser Rifle
- Base Damage: Moderately higher
- Damage Build Up: Significantly slower
- Overheat: Same
- Optimal: Closer to enemies, but still relatively long ranged
- Magazine: Smaller
- Seize Time: Slower
- Seize Damage: Does significantly more damage to the user

All of your posts are very thoughtful and in keeping with the other racial weapon concepts in Dust.
But (even though I am not an Amarr weapon user), I like the fact that Amarr technology stands out as the most, well, ...sci-fi, of all the Races. Min technology is the most "poor-man archaic and brutal"...(cave in her skull with 800 rounds of metal).
Gal and Cald tech are advanced, encapsulations of "energy" we're familiar with, but are thrown in ways that we players still can respond to in the way we think of ordinary slugs and bullets.
All 3 Races fall into the famous Dust Breach/Burst/Tact/Sub variation path in (more or less) the SAME COMBAT scenarios/uses.
Amarr has that ethereal "touch me and I die" feeling, and the annoyingly effective "hissing light" sound that sets it apart from the other three technologies. It's rifles CLEARLY can't be taken for granted as "bullets" during our gameplay the way the other Races weapons can, and that's refreshingly cool. I would love to see that standout, sci-fi exotic-ness (I'm hurting the English language, I know) be carried through, and the Amarr be given "variants" that are more exotic than all the other Races and a little harder to get accustomed to.
Someone started a great thread for Amarr "grenades", and we chatted about an Amarr grenade not being a "grenade" at all. Instead of a single sudden blast, it could have a 8-second duration "glow" that burns/eats your ehp rapidly down as long as you stand around in its range when it's tossed on the ground and activates. Nothing like a regular grenade, nowhere at all related to what we'd expect the other Races' to come up with. So yes, Amarr variants would be nice, as long as they are uniquely AMARR in the way they kill (not just new tweaks of cooldown/RoF/etc that we're used to dealing with in the other technologies).
Universe of good wishes for the 49, especially CCP Eterne...

Supposedly using the puny pre-existing laser rifle model, instead of a re-textured/recolored Forge Gun which would totally be awesome-er.... and stuff...
Anyway, I like the idea of making a LR variant that allows for continued fire upon overheat, whereby shields and armour are drained, in exchange for increased damage (which no longer increases, as it reached its peak heat point). Boring stats are below, using a format I totally came up with myself and did not borrow from anybody else:
Cool Laser Rifle of BURN EVERYBODY TO DEATH!
Base Damage: Super low. The point is to BURN TO DEATH while BURNING OTHERS TO DEATH!
Damage Build Up: Faster than a speeding bullet.
Overheat: Faster than the Flash on speed.
Optimal: Long like Kim Jong-Un is short.
Magazine: Supersized like an obese American.
Seize Time: None. You are burning to death!
Seize Damage: You are ON FIRE! DPS to self is moderate, because you need time to MAKE THAT FIRE SPREAD!
USE: Stack armor, triage hives and/or get a logi.... and..... INICNERATE EVERYBODY!!!!!!!! (including yourself)

Grenade I have an idea for an Amarrian Grenade as well and it doesn't consist of an explosion, but an implosion with a golden light at the center. It sucks you in, scouts can get away easily as they are the fastest but heavies can try. Medium frames are in between.
Weaponry As for the weaponry if you look in the Marketplace, you can see that all other races triumph over the Amarr concerning Variations. Even if you include One Heavy weapon ( The Heavy Laser in progress ) it wouldn't make a huge impact.
Other ScR Variations Include :
Breach ScR ( Tries to Mimic Gallente Breach AR ) * Slow RoF * Slow Heat-Build Up * Huge Seize Damage * High Damage * Some What Long ( Not Really, but really ) Seize Time
Burst ScR ( Tries To Mimic Minmitar CR ) * True Burst, Shoots 3 Bullets * Medium Heat Build Up * Good Amount of Damage * Moderate Seize Damage * Small Seize Time
My LR Variant ( Tries to Mimic Caldari Forge Gun, In a light weapon aspect ) * Able to hold a charge for 10 Seconds * High Damage upon release of Charge * Seizes and does Moderate Damage to the user within 3 Shots ( The amount of shots increase upon level ) * Great Range as opposed to the Standard LR
