Really though any assault is a good choice, depending on your play style. They are the most versatile. Sentinels are powerful but struggle against high alpha and open spaces. From my recent PC experience I've found that scouts and assaults are taking the majority of roles. My advice would be to pick something you think is cool and stick with it. The goal is that eventually everything will be balanced.
Jack McReady DUST University Ivy League 1683	Posted - 2014.12.30 21:10:00 - [32] - Quote minmatar assault is great but I would not say it is the best, people just use it the most because it is flexible and naturally pairs with projectile weapons that tear through armor which is the most common type of tank on the field when fighting for static objectives which a big part of the game is. I think the reason is not because shield tanks are weak, it is the opposite. they can reach good hp values along with great regeneration without loosing mobility. fluxes are the problem imho. if you start to fortify around an objective with shield heavy suits you will just see cooked fluxed flying into your direction and you have no way of escaping the huge blast radius.

I'm really bad at it, I just cloak up, run right at someone and start shooting away as soon as I get close enough. This impressive strategy gets me more kills than any other suit. I did not name the Amarr assault, although it for sure is in a better place than gallente and caldari. I agree, it's not as fun as using a hit-n-run CR minmatar assault, but The ScR has flat-out an aimbot on it if you use the AA, and being a semiauto weapon it doesn't have issues with strafing targets. 10100111001 Shield tanking is hard mode /period. 10100111001
