I'm from Singapore, looks like I'm getting somewhat playable latencies(224 ms avg US, 304 ms avg EU).
Still far from what I'm used to though :)
luckily I'm not having too many problems with killing people

Ping went out from Germany to EU server, 22ms average and 140ms to US servers
both very good pings, however sadly doesnt prevent the performance issues or the hitbox detection problems :( |

Can you do a tracert to the US ip from you? 118 sounds pretty high from within the US.

Well that's interesting, the EU server is in Ohio (unless the lookup is wrong)? Makes sense, I think a huge pipe just went up there. I've seen other MMO 'EU' servers based out of NY. |

This bitrates should be a little higher, but as I've set each WiFi (Type-N) connection to a max of 10Mbps as to prevent any one device taking the whole bandwidth ... this is more than enough to play any other online games.
To be honest the performance issues don't seem to be based to much on the latency of the game, although without studing the netcode you guys are using difficult to make a truely informed decision about that; still I've noticed in games with smaller populations (<16) the game is playable and with populations very small (<8) it is as smooth as most other FPS games, like Battlefield 3 or Killzone 3. |

My ping from the PC is great (134ms - US) but it's not the same for the PS3 which is lagging horribly during matches, and even in the MQ, I think it's partly cause of the map size itself and all the stuff it's trying to sync. Dont get me wrong i love a large map but i think they're going to have to be toned down a bit for this to actually be up to quality. |

I still kill some fools. ;-)
Reminds me of my PSTN modem days. The most fun I've ever had playing an FPS was Counter-Strike on an HPB server. I stayed on it (with simulated latency) even after I got cable. :)

So I guess it all makes sense |

It may not be all lag... IRL you have to "lead" a target to hit it if it's moving. Could be they've added that in to Dust 514 to make it more "interesting". After all... bullets don't bend round corners (except for Coriolis effect and bullet spin/drop effects). |

please ccp fix the lag and don't allow players higher than 70-80ms be on the same server with players less than 70-80ms... because this is really anoing if a lagger joins a server and he is lagging.... you can't hit them because of the lag... i mean my ping to the eu servers 159.253.143.196 is now around 43ms and if i play agains a lagger i can't hit him because of the lag....
so please make something about it
maybe in the matchmaking the server should collect players with ping till 70ms and let them play together ... but please do not allow players with high ping joiny the servers... this is really gamebreaking |

About once every two hours it seems the battle search never ends, one time i waited up to 30 min and no battle was found.I sometimes also get the "white ring" problem, Although the white ring is a rare problem for me. I know this is just beta and im not expecting a perfect game, I just have not seen another post like this. Im just happy reseting the game fixes all of my bugs. hurry and knock this **** out!!!!!! I want a full game!!!!!! I also noticed that my K/D has gone up and i am earning less skill points? Not fair for the better equipped. Maybe set aside a advanced dropsuit server with more Skill points avaiable? |

US : min 128ms max 134ms av 130ms
UK: Min 28ms max 36ms av 32ms
run from pc using same line and isp noted unusual lag all day on the 19th july and today the 20th july very very bad, un-playable on both UK and US.
US seems to hang from start until its shunted overseas, then tracert flys the rest ( the ilford - oversea hop is the holdup) UK shows smooth hops, but lag ingame is un-playable, not my ps3 (no problems with MW3 multiplayer) |

And here i was thinking the US server was way more playable than the EU one. |

From New Zealand to:
Pings
- US: 202ms
- EU: 316ms
- Asia: 310ms
That's right, from NZ my best bet is the US server, not the Asian one. I assume the "sng01" in the name of the Asian endpoint means the Asian server is in Singapore? I don't know what Australia is like, but NZ tends to have a better connection to LA than Singapore. So US server for Oceania players then.
Edit: I see that bug1 a couple of posts up has a much better ping from Aussie to the Asian address than I do. Makes sense since it looks like my packets get bounced around Telstra's network through Aussie to get to Singapore. Not much CCP can do about that I guess. :(

this is at 10am on my college campus over WiFi
i'm going to try again around "peak times" for the campus, which is usually around noon and around 8pm or so, and see if the latency is the same
EDIT: just wanted to add, i have VERY SEVERE hit detection problems. worse than last build really. so i'm not sure if bad latency=bad hit detection is a valid statement |

I'm in Greece and I've got a nice 57ms average to the EU servers and a 177ms average to the USA ones.
I only pinged the USA ones because everyone else was doing it. Is there any reason for us EU players to be concerned with our latency to the USA servers? (e.g. because that's where the EVE servers are etc.?) |

Kinda figured my ping would be a little better for US since I'm basically around the corner form the server (not literally but I'm close, or so I've been told) But then again....I'm not fond of my ISP and latency is one of the main reasons why.

Mines not bad either, especially considering I'm on ADSL, and I'm in east Texas.
173.193.23.235 (North America): 11 hops on tracert, two of which are my wifi/gigabit router, and the router part of my dsl modem. Minumum =21,s. Maximum = 70ms, Average = 33ms
in fact all but 1 of the packets came back at 21ms
159.253.143.196 (Europe): Minimum = 139ms, Maximum = 140ms, Average = 139ms
216.12.196.114 (Singapore): Minimum = 242ms, Maximum = 253ms, Average = 248ms
27.50.71.1 (Australia): Minimum = 223ms, Maximum = 225ms, Average = 223ms
And I guess according to the tracert the NA server is in Dallas, which literally puts me about 150ish miles from it. |

I played and I played and I played wow I am hooked on the game still got some major glitches . I was running from my spawn point to try to capture A ran up some little hill next to a wall got stuck there until some guy come over and shot me boy I was pissed. Got big enemy tanks driving by while I'm trying everything I could to get unstuck never happened. I was trying to have fun but the game play messed it up for me again, I was so pissed I shut that thing off mid game and I bet I don't play that game again for a day. See I spawned just before that and got wasted by a guy with a Gatling gun who was just waiting for my team to spawn so he could waste about a million bucks worth of suits and all the fixings. That spawn killing stuff is not a fair game and should not be allowed. Thanks again guys now I'm pissed at the world again. So for all you little spawn killers I say here is to you sucking my balls . One day when they finally get the glitches out of this game I will get back. Until then I'll be bitching big time. I made like all these big sp points and all this ISK to up grade my anti armor gun I spent it all on these skills to get a better gun only problem is the stupid gun you gave us out the box was better than the upgraded ones thanks again I just love wasting my whole day to make a ton of loot to spend on some weak ass donkey **** bullshit. Can you tell I'm upset? This game is messing with my sanity. Yesterday I was real cool with the game but today I'm wanting to toss my controller through my TV . I spawned once today and I see a heavy suit guy with a Gatling gun I start shooting him hardly did anything but tell him where I was he turned my screen glitched I'm dead his two bullets were a lot meaner than my 60 I shot him with . Oh let me tell you I like the sniper rifle I get great head shots sometimes but most of the time I shoot once hit the guy , twice I hit the guy third time I hit him again then the guy runs off while I reload his health comes right back he turns shoots me one time I'm done. I've never seen a three shot rifle before who is the genus who thought of that? Good news, when I finally had enough of this I will punt my ps3 though the wall and toss my controller through my big TV then I will be done with this glitchy game seems like you programed it to cheat me every time. I think you like said look its him let's **** with him some more. I spend all this cash on a tank then I spend a ton more fixing it up with modules then as soon as I call it in the torrent moves so slow I don't get one shot off before I get blown up before I even get off one shot. Must be you got to pay some ******* to turn the torrent alittle faster or maybe I just bought the slow tank so after I play for a few more months I can buy the skill then I can buy the guns then I can buy another ****** up slow tank that moves allittle faster would be nice to at least get one shot before I have to start all over with nothing. Why do people sit under the drop ship and shoot your ass out the air so before you can land your dead? I was up on the ship I see them down there waiting so I try to shoot them from the ship it won't shoot through the force field yet they can shoot you before you get off that ship. Who thought that would be cool? You should give them a missile launcher up there so you can try to fight back. I ain't real sure yet weather I'll play this game every day or if I take a an AK and go shoot everyone at McDonalds. That's how I felt today major disappointment this is PlayStation its supposed to be the best system why can't we get a game that plays as good as halo? I thought this was that game but then I played it . I understand its a beta, but can you please fix the bugs? There are plenty of other guys out there that you can cheat why does it got to be me everytime? Why no matter what I pull out does it always kill my ass in two shots . Why is every other guy got better guns than me? My main rifle is got no range it don't do much damage I put 60 shots into the other guy but then he shoots at me once or twice then my guys falls down every time. So to me it looks like everyone has a more powerful gun than me? Please push your button on your computer make my guy a little stronger? Hey If you don't mind I need some of your attention CCP and all DEVs it's time to stop the data flooders in dust. Data flooding is illegal and it's time to fight back!!
PLEASE readOn IRC, the most common type of flood is text flood. This happens when someone sends a lot of text in a channel or a private message, causing the chat window to scroll a lot in a very short time. This could be caused by pasting a large amount of text from the clipboard, using large pop-up texts or poorly written scripts to show colorful text-images or huge letters, flowers, puppies, cows, teddybears and so on, or, in some rare situations, by a lagged server. Such a large amount of text or number of lines in a few seconds are considered annoying by the channel operators, and some run protection bots which automatically kick a person who sends more than 4 or 5 lines or more than a couple hundred characters in less than a few seconds. Also, the IRC server itself has a protection limit; if someone sends more characters than this limit in a second, the server will automatically disconnect the person with the message "Excess flood."
Keep in mind this server flood protection, especially if you have some sort of fancy script or program which, for example, replies automatically when someone types !ping or !seen, or plays games in channel. Even if you don't have such a script, your IRC client (mIRC, for example) automatically replies to certain commands sent by others: PING, VERSION, FINGER, to name a few. These automatic replies can be dangerous, because some people can exploit a poorly written script and make you get disconnected. How can they do that? Well, let's suppose that the server limit is set to 400 characters per second, and let's imagine that when someone types "!coke", your script automatically says "Free soft drinks for everyone! Take your pick: Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Pepsi." What if a person who tries to disconnect you types "!coke" 6 times in one second? Your script will send that reply 6 times as well, in another second. But the person sent only 5 characters six times, that is 30 characters in one second; on the other hand, your script send 77 characters six times in the same second, which makes 462 characters in one second. And that's more than the maximum of 400 characters accepted by the server in one second, and you will be instantly disconnected.
mIRC Flood Protection
In later versions, mIRC became smarter and can now be set to automatically prevent you from flooding the server by sending more characters in one second than the maximum allowed limit. By the way, it's a good idea to always install the latest available version of a program to benefit from old bugs being corrected and from new features being installed; also, keep in mind that if you have a problem, the author of the program will not offer support for older versions. To enable flood protection, open the Options page (File menu in some versions, Tools menu in newer versions), expand the IRC section in the tree list on the left, and select the Flooding sub-section. At the right, check all the boxes. After enabling this setting, when you paste a large amount of text, mIRC will send it with delays between the lines, so you won't exceed the server's limit; also, if someone sends you a CTCP PING request, your mIRC will answer it and then ignore further PINGs from that person for 10 seconds, thus preventing the situation when the person repeatedly pings you, trying to make you disconnect. The flood settings may not help if you have a fancy script downloaded from somewhere on the Internet. Sure, it has nice menus and commands, jokes, colorful messages and a lot of things built-in, but in most cases these scripts lack the mechanisms to prevent flooding the server with automatic messages. Besides, who knows what could be hidden in all that code? Did you know that most scripts contain backdoors or IRC viruses which cannot be detected by normal antivirus programs or protected by firewalls, but allow other people to take control of your computer? I'd rather give up on old jokes and annoying colorful messages than have someone looking through my emails and personal files without my knowledge!

If someone is sending you a lot of private messages, notices, DCC requests or various CTCPs but you don't have any script to automatically reply to them, don't worry; you cannot be flooded. Eventually, the person will trigger the server's protection limit and will get disconnected. Until then, you can simply ignore the person's nickname with the command: /ignore nickname 3 . Don't forget the 3 at the end, it will make mIRC ignore the person's messages (hide them) even if he/she changes nickname or reconnects to the Internet provider with another IP address. However, if there are many nicknames sending you messages, notices, DCC requests or CTCPs, they might be "flood bots," each of them is sending you short messages, but summed together it will create a lot of traffic through your Internet connection, even if you ignore them all. The solution for protecting your connection is to ask the IRC server to completely block messages from those nicknames; this can be done with the command /silence nickname . Remember that on Undernet, you can silence maximum 15 nicknames at any time, so if there are more nicknames attacking you with messages, use /silence * to ignore all messages from all people on IRC. If you are a channel operator, this will give you time to kick and ban them all, then change your nickname so they cannot find you and send you messages any longer; afterwards, revert the message block with the command /silence -* .
Packet Flooding
Another type of flood is only indirectly related to IRC; a person finds out your computer's address (either the numeric IP address or the one with letters) by /whois yournickname, then tries to attack it directly by filling your Internet connection with unnecessary traffic. As a result, you will find yourself unabl |
