This is why switching it off is such a pain. It doesn't help aiming so much, it helps this crappy hit detection to work a bit better.
They need to fix their hit detection once and for all, and then take out AA. This could make the game even better than pre 1.4 (releasing of AA IIRC ^^). |

first of all, bullet magnetism is not the same as aim assist, what is the problem with comprehending that?
second you can clearly see in the video that weapons dispersion made him hit, see that open crosshair in the middle? this is the ******* area you can hit with your weapons dispersion, the crosshair is displayed like that for a reason. beside that, there is also something called POINT OF VIEW and CONVERGENCE, both together make it appear he missed by a slight margin where he actually dont.

AA-off. You can't pick out a single target within in a group with it on. If you fire on more than 2 enemies that are close together, like a logi/heavy combo, you can stand still & watch you line of fire bounce back & forth between the targets.
Aim assist will screw you over. Turn it off & get good.
Edit: didn't read all post before posting, but if this doesn't define bullet magnetism then nothing does.
Have you considered a career in costumed aggression?

I think there is nothing wrong with aim assist in this game as far ambiance goes. By that I mean that this game takes place in a place where technology is many times more advance than what we have. It would then make sense that soldiers have some sort of aim assist as well as other technological improvements to make them deadlier. If we where talking about a game that took place say during the civil war then I think the mechanics should had resembles the weapons and technology of that time. What I do see that this games lack is thermal or night vision. That should had been a counter to the cloaks or to see if there is anybody on the other side of that wall. |

I turned off AA. Went 12/7 with AR and BuAR. Did better with AR. Over all I noticed little difference. But then again, I have never felt any benefits from AA before; my reticle doesn't ever turn red and lock on. Will continue this experiment.

Pffff.
I play with my eyes closed.
Those things are legitimately overpowered, way more so than stupid wittle 'aim assist.' The entire game is balanced around them, and even more insidiously, virtually every single game ever made is deigned with such an overpowered apparatus in mind.

At no point what so ever does it make sense that Your dropsuit is going to automate your movements of your body to the point where it helps you aim for you.
It could make sense to have a weapon like Titanfall's pistol... Where bullets will arc and "Home" onto locked on targets.. But that is even balanced there...
Please name a futuristic Movie even... where Technology is automating one's body to aim for them... At best you will get guns that have homing bullets or futuristic SIghts....
If we can't even choose what sights we have on our guns at this "Futuristic" stage. This kinda justification for this feature makes no sense.

Bethhy wrote:If we can't even choose what sights we have on our guns at this "Futuristic" stage this kinda justification for this feature makes no sense. We're playing a version of alternate history. Technology developed down different paths. The technology for sights may have been underdeveloped in favor of other weapon systems.
Using the "doesn't make sense" argument is idiotic in a world where we have micro-wormholes and inertia dampeners.
My advice to you, playa...

At some point, KB/M had raw input and there was no Aim Assist (and then there was Aim Assist that was terrible) and KBM users were raping controller players. People were switching from controller to KBM and seeing their KDR triple instantly.
The perceived problem with Aim Assist right now is due to the fact that it is not implemented the same way it is in other shooters. In DUST it is actually much weaker than other shooters.

It wouldn't change anything. Anyone who is even halfway serious about using a Keyboard and Mouse in Dust is not using the the stock KB/M controls, they are using a controller emulator to take advantage of the far superior controls.
If anything removing KB/M from the game would make the situation worse for you, as you would create awareness for these emulators for the small percentage of people who do mistakenly use the stock KB/M controls and likely many of them would switch over to an emulator and have a better experience. |

Considering that the AA in DUST is much weaker than the AA in most FPS games I do not understand the complaints.
I think the OP needs to do a lot more testing before coming to his conclusions. I doubt that if he played for a week each way the difference would be that great. It is far more likely that this is just the normal spread you have in games depending on the circumstances of the match. |

Also, there is no strafing issue. People are able to move like this in real life so why would you want it removed from the game?
Last time they removed strafing it was horrible. It made you feel as if you could no longer turn at the hip like a real person. |
